You will have to excuse my friend. Van doesn't want Kapanen.
Jesper Lindgren and a 4th round pick will do just fine. - manvanfan
ill take anyone who one punches McCann. We need more Alphas. |

You're going to lose the deal and we are going to have to keep watching Stecher take pucks off the face into our own net. |

Stetcher is a serviceable 5/6 dman. |

Most of my dmen are top pairing, cept one or two that are there for certain stats. I also haven't been logging in to set lines... |

Getting traded to Toronto would be a big boost to Troy's career. He'd instantly be considered one of the best defensemen in the league by many members of the Canadian media and millions of 'hockey experts'. |

Kap didn't win the fight, but after eating a couple early he did drop McCann with a good shot. |

Yeah I remember that part, and I guess thats maybe why they got a termination fee? He's on their cap until 2032 - WhiteLie
The other one I can think of is the Kovalchuk contract. The league hit them with a 3M fine, and they lost a 3rd and a 1st for just submitting a contract that they deemed circumvention. My memory was that the contract was within the rules but took advantage of a loophole.
4 years later they gave back the 1st rounder but the point being is the league has the power to penalize when they feel teams are abusing the spirit of the rules.

Except for a few times a puck went off him into the net(costing us the game vs the wild) he is not terrible. He just isn't worth the amount he may get from arbitration. |

I just realized that QH is 4th in Defense scoring. I also see that Pionk is 10th, and we laughed at the return WPG got for whats his face. |

Lots of trades within division and conference this year. Looks like GM’s are less worried about player X coming back to bite them as they are about salary cap flexibility and acquiring draft selections during a rebuild. |

More Trade Bait talk on @SportsCentre- I believe at least 4 teams have shown interest so far in #Leafs pending UFA Tyson Barrie: #Canucks , #Flames , #VegasBorn , #LetsGoCanes. Only way Barrie gets dealt is if TOR finds better fit on D, or gets pieces to flip for that better fit. |

From the Leafs thread trade proposal... Canucks, Flames, Vegas, Carolina:
Woo/Hoglander + Stecher + 2021 2nd
Only if they re-sign Brodie after the trade
2020 1st + conditional 2021 2nd (becomes 1st if he re-signs)
Our 1st back + 2020 3rd

I remember Ray Ferraro saying Teams within a division play each other something like a max of 5 times???? So the chances of said player that was traded actually making a difference in those games might be once or twice - the risk is low on an overall level so it’s not really a concern anymore. |

Show me an example..... of course it could happen, just like Luongo could of stayed on LTIR or decided to mutually void his contract or the league could of decided that they didn't want to punish retroactively. - belcherbd
I showed a bunch yesterday off the top of my head:
Berglund
Burnistrov
Shipachyov
Now Bogosian
That’s Within the last 2 years - there may be more |

Hopefully Benning is chatting to Fitzgerald.
Here's an interesting quote from Fitzgerald (Devils Interim GM).
Sure. First and foremost, it’s a man’s league. We need men on this team. You can’t just have all kids playing. Things can go south quickly because of the people that they’re playing against, the men on the other team. So, you need a good core of men to surround kids. My goal is through drafting and developing, and we’ve got some young defensemen that we really like coming up, but we’re not going to rush them. I’m going to need some bridge players to continue to help pull this team in the right direction while my young kids are developing. And when they’re ready to play, they’re going to be ready. And that cycle will continue on. There’s an age factor here. I’m not looking to go out and sign 30-year-old plus free agents that may have a shelf life for three to four years. I’m looking to try to add to this team with some of these draft picks I’m trying to accumulate. That’s my goal, it’s easier said than done. But that’ll be my intention come the offseason is try to add via trade or possibly free agency and continue to draft well and have a development plan for all our players.

Is Stetcher any good? Or is he garb? - Matthews_Auston
He is awesome, like really, really good and Canucks fans would be beside themselves to lose such a fantastic defenseman, but for a fellow Canadian team, we can part with him for a second rounder. |
