If Benning plays his cards right a couple of more trades and he can give you and DCT the year off - VANTEL
I'd like to see a lot of internal options tested out next season to see where they are at. No more of this paying for guys like Schaller and having to have 4 players on IR to make the cap. If you develop well, players will fill holes. If they don't, that's when you buy at the TDL.
Canucks didn't actually have a rookie play a game this season. Hughes, Zac Mac, Sautner all played a couple games last season.
Healthy is great, and having NHL talent waiting in the press box is also not a bad thing. Just has to be useful to which the Canucks LE and Schaller are not. |

And play out the rest of his career in a rebuild - manvanfan
There’s no timeline for a rebuild, unless you know something I don’t? Could be competitive in three years, could be eight, who knows. |

: The Stecher rumours are definitely true. #Canucks went through a situation with Ben Hutton where they were uncomfortable with what it would take to qualify him and they lost him. I do think that is a factor and that Stecher is available
-----------------
If that is the reason they are not going to keep Stecher. Who the hell is going to trade for him then? |

Can't all be the flyers and do a 6 year rebuild with a core already in place. |

I just noticed I got flagged for saying I want nothing to do with Subban, should I give myself a timeout, or change my stance |

Name a time when they did a rebuild. They never had to, always competitive through free agents and trades. |

Watching the VGK right now and thinking Stone Pax and Martinez all really nice signings. This is a really good team. This is a well built team that used it's money wisely.
Canucks made some dumb signings out of necessity like Eriksson . I like this signing and I don't mind using some assets to speed up some other trades or signings .
The next 8 years or close to it this is going to be Petey and Quinn's team . Build around them and don't waste years waiting for bad contract to expire.
I hope they make another big move and if they use a prospect like OJ who can easily be replaced to correct that mistake then oh well.
Keep Hoglander and Pod . Hopefully we keep Rafferty . He is such a good play maker . |

The trade for JT miller was a worse deal then what NJ paid for Subban. |

Vegas is close to the cap ceiling but they have a bunch of good players, I don’t see a lot of dead space like Benning has. Colorado is another good team with TONS of cap space, MacKinnon is on a steal of a deal.
Vegas has nine players making 5 million or more |

Canucks do have a few bad contracts and now that you have some prospects you can fix that a lot sooner.
I don't think Beagle or Sutter are bad contracts but there are the obvious Eriksson Ferland Sven Benn and I would put Roussel on there because of amount of games played.
You can make that go away this summer. If you need to use a Gaudette OJ Woo or Madden .
You have Petey and JTM who are on pace for 80 pts. Quinn on pace for 60-70
Horvat on pace for 60 and Brock who said he will be back before the end of the year on pace for 65 also.
That is some good numbers . Why wait ? |

Sooner than later Pettersson, Hughes, Boeser, Horvat and Miller are going to rightfully command the lions share of the money, the days of spending foolishly on depth guys like Beagle, Sutter, Roussel & Baertschi are over. |

They won the Cup in 1975 and drafted 1st overall, you just don’t see poop like that anymore. They went to the finals in 74, 75, 76, 80, 85, 87, 97, 2010, but when Holmgren gave up the GM’s chair he was the last of the oldschool guys. They understood, so we thought, you have to build through the draft, UFA and blockbuster trades aren’t a viable way to build in today’s N.H.L.
It was always reloading for them. |
