my "proposal" was dumba for domi and petry, Thompson, kovalchuk and a 2nd for graves which makes the avalanche way more legit than they are right now. and there's your left, right 2nd pair dmen for the habs long term.
being a loser around someone like you is an upgrade so thanks for the compliment. - rob121
What don't you get?
Graves plays on the left side. Petry is a right handed defenseman. Who takes Grave place on the first pair, again on the left side? Unless Petry plays on is off side?
We really have to explain everything to you. |

if the avalanche really consider themselves a "cup contender" they will not win with 2 rookie 1st pair dmen. 3 pieces I proposed give them better shot at winning in my opinion. if you think they should stay the course with makar and graves as their top pairing and with kadri and rantanen questionable this season, as a fan of the avalanche I only offer my own opinion from the outside. que serra serra. - rob121
They aren't going to trade graves or zadorov unless they have already bolstered their defense.
It's not made currently to survive if there is an injury. Your scenario leaves colorado with a top 6 of...
Makar - Girard - Zadorov - Johnson - Cole - Barberio |

They're more likely to add him without trading out someone in their t6. Because then they're in the same spot of not having a real nhl body or 2 in case of an injury |

exactly, that's why I thought if the offer is good enough, maybe Byram could be in play.
let's help COL have a legit cup run
Drouin Petry and Thompson for Byram and Kault
than Domi and Mete for Dumba
and happy for Alzner. that's one metro ride he will enjoy |

Yea that's a horrible (frank)ing trade for the Avs, why don't you just add McKinnon and call it a day while you're at it?
Leaving for Kanata in 3 hours, Go Habs!! |

Rangers rebuild on fire....creeping up on Canes for 2nd wild card spot. Igor 8 wins in goal...the King is dead in NYC....Habs could learn a thing or two from this rebuild... |

Meh. Some of things yes and others not really.
Players want to play in NY. Not so much Montreal. Trouba wanted to be there. Yeah they had to trade for him, but he resigned over there. Same thing with Panarin. We never get that kind of players on the open market. NYR get them every year. |

Might want to give more credit to Panarin than Gorton... |

So much truth in this. There are only so many factors you can control but Montreal's location isn't becoming NYC or Southern California any time soon |

But I like the fact that they were clear with their fans about the rebuild. They also traded some pretty good players, knowing it was more about the future.
But about the letter, most people in here made fun of it.
Montreal? Nobody knows what they are doing anymore. Some honesty with the fans would have been good. |

The Pacioretty trade seemed like they were going in a clear direction but then they overachieved the following year and now seem hesitant the finish the job... if you're going youth movement, Petry and Tatar have to go, players in their 30's shouldn't be receiving their last big payday from a team in the middle of a retool that's built around a younger core |

Pretty accurate, looking at the market they could and should get a king’s ransom for Petry; Bean and Fleury would be my targets. I would be more tempted to trade Domi than Tatar. With Suzuki’s emergence i just don’t see a fit for Domi on this roster, with KK back next year. |

Yeah, pretty much.
I don't think this team should target the playoffs next season. Not if it means keeping guys that you should sell. And it's a seller market right now.
But I don't expect much monday. |

My primary target would be Harley in Dallas... not sure they would consider moving him but the Habs definitely have the assets to make t happen |

If they could trade Domi and a little something for Dumba, that could be an option.
I think he has 3 years on his current deal. Not bad... |

yeah. I think they should either way, but yeah.
The fact that Fleury is not there yet and none of their prospects on the right side looks ready probably means Bergevin don't want to trade Petry. Weber is always hurt on top of that.
Dumba buys them time. |

They could trade Petry and acquire a journeyman veteran D in the offseason, not having anyone to step in for Petry shouldn't be a reason to not deal him during a rebuild... and certainly not a reason to re-sign him to a ludicrous long term deal as he's sure to start declining |
