I believe his contract is probably still valued around 65-70M. |

funny (frank)er...
Has anyone heard projections on the next contracts for Petry and Tatar? I know Kovalchuk is supposed to be $3.5M base and $5m with bonuses but haven't heard anything on the more important 2. I'd keep them if the term is under 5 years... |

Lets be honest, if the Habs retained $3M or took back a bad contract (Vlasic), there'd be takers.
I'm not suggesting Vlasic is the guy but if you can find someone who used to be good and suddenly sucks with a bad contract, it could be worth a shot (like Tatar), especially with the UFA goalie pool this year |

They'd both be signed for probably 6 years at 7 million. |

yep, maybe 1 year less for Petry since he is older, but that's problably close.
same for Danault and Gallagher btw. |

Oh they could move him for sure (but he has to agree to it)......but the poop we'd have to take back or retain might just be as poopty as his contract in the end??
Unless he demands a trade and we get totally (frank)ed over. That's a different story. |

yeah, I don't see the point of retaining 2-3M, then pay 6M for another goalie.... might as well keep the (frank)er and chill out |

Yes exactly. It's just a different scenario adding up to the same amount of money for a worse player/situation.
If only there was a way to win in a deal for him......... |
