What would CAR realistically give up for Lehner/Gus? - Assman22
Problem for the Hawks is there are other teams who also have goalies and defense men Carolina and Colorado can look at. I’m crossing my fingers Bowman can get a big haul back but the market may play against against that. |

Bogie, I never said that Lehner was the ONLY reason they aren’t in playoff contention- or that the rest of the team (with very few, if any, exceptions) didn’t have equal - or more - responsibility for the failure.
I was also a Lehner supporter early on.
But like the rest of the team, he didn’t perform at a critical time (20 goals against in his last 5 games, in only one of which he gave up less than 4, save percentage under 90%) and that if any of that poor performance was because of contract or TDL issues (as has been at least hinted at), then I’m not interested in moving forward with him at anything close to the contract he’s looking for. - StLBravesFan
sage...not strawmaning you. I get your point. I was just speculating about lehner and TDL issues.
crow had some some bad stretches and some of the same voices were ready to run him out of town...now he plays better than lehner although not in terms of wins/losses and (frank) that lard ass lehner he cost us a playoff shot...BS.
the goaltending and kane are the only reasons to watch this team and kept them from being the kings or deadwings...
I have laid out the scenario's for keeping him or moving him and they have nothing to do with his "laying an egg" the last 4-5 games. that team in front of crow and lehner is awful...i would move lehenr to they cant justify that kind a of term and $$ for a top netminder at this time... |

canes should look at the king before over paying for lehner as a rental...
don't want to see lehner end up in aveland or in this division for 7 years; not that it matters all that much the hawks aren't contending for years |

Vs the team they played last night who was built around a good defense, has some offensive firepower but could use some help in goal.
Don’t the Canes also have multiple picks in each of the first three rounds? - HawkintheD
The Canes showed last night how unimportant goalie has become. A (frank)ing Zamboni driver can play the position, ffs. |

Where have ya been Pallie? Crawford proved years ago a goalie doesn’t have to be elite when you’re blessed with a great defense. |

If Lehner/Gus nets a CAR 1st and their 2nd (via NYR), I’d jump on that. Essentially two late first rounders in a deep draft. |

Unfortunately, you’re likely right. Unless Stan can sneak him into a package deal to a desperate team.
Yet the majority here were really excited when Stan made that trade.
How does that old saying go...something about not confusing activity with accomplishments? - Ogilthorpe2
I look at as getting next to nothing for $1M less. |

I agree but what I’m saying is Carolina have other options to leverage a trade so they can pay as little as possible. The big thing going against Carolina and Colorado is time |

First of all, that game was against the loafs, who are a sad team. Who or HOW, would anyone be able to trade for Tavares or Marner ? And who would WANT Nylander ? And then, they have their best Dmen gong to be oofa's ? Wow, what a mess. Blackhawks are in great shape compared to Loafs. They only put 8 shots on goal after zamboni guy let in the 1st 2 shots. And Carolina has a bunch of big boys who can really skate AND are committed defensively, for the most part. I am not expecting any trades until after the games today and possibly not until monday. Hawks are not a good team and guys need to go. A bunch of them. |

Think what could help is CAR has worked a lot of deals with Stan. Stan did well in the De Haan trade. Lets see if he can get something else done tomorrow. |

While Marner isn’t having a great season he’s a guy who would be in demand. Tavares had the best season of his career when Marner was on his line. This year Matthews is having his best career with Marner on his line. The last two playoffs the Bruins targeted Marner by playing the Bergeron line against him both times not concerning themselves with Matthews. Marner plays on the first powerplay unit and on the first penalty killing unit. I think Marner, despite an off year, is Toronto’s best player and certainly it’s best overall player. |

I hope you’re right but Carolina has options that may not include a trade with the Blackhawks. |

When I was a kid in the 60s and 70s, a wooden stick, $3.00, cost my parents about half an hours pay. Now the (frank)ing sticks cost over $200, about five or six hours pay for the average person. The equipment costs more and the cost of ice and registration costs more. As you said when we were kids in Ontario we could play outside from December to March almost every day. Climate change has messed all that up. Forty to fifty percent of the days between December and March are too warm to maintain the natural ice.
Bring back wooden sticks for kids to at the very least allow parents to afford hockey sticks. - paulr
I hadn’t played in 20+ years and came back to find the equipment lighter and way more expensive. I was a huge wood stick guy. Loved my titans tried an Easton aluminum when roenick and hull were making them relevant but the new sticks are ridiculous. No wonder sticks break on a whim.
Still have my old tacks which are cement blocks vs the vapors. |

Hoping Carlsson is the best player to wear the number 46 for the Hawks. It’s a pretty low bar. - HawkintheD
In the press release announcing the Carlsson call-up on the Blackhawks website, they show the wrong player (Holm) in the picture. You think someone would have caught that.
I believe Carlsson wore 46 in training camp but wouldn't be surprised if he switches to 23. He wore 23 in Sweden, including in tournaments, and wears it now in Rockford. |
