point....most of those fans have gone from negative to positive when evaluating some of Dorion's trades, but only in hindsight, and only because a massive amount of unpredictable luck has made those trades look great in hindsight.
I think there are very few people who think that Dorion is a quality GM.
I don't think he's one of the worst GMs in the league (as someone else suggested).....but I guarantee you that if they were ranked from 1-31 (or are there 32 teams, can never remember), he's almost guaranteed to be in the bottom 10

Yeah, but those trades weren't made to benefit the NOW. They were made to benefit the FUTURE. And some of those trades are actually doing that.
Also, don't forget that all these guys were pending UFA's that were likely just gonna walk in the Summer. Had that happened, you'd all be calling for Dorion's head, saying he should have at least gotten some picks for them.
At the time, yes, all those trades (Karlsson, Duchene, Stone, Dzingel) were difficult blows. But now that the dust has settled, we have improved as a team going forward in every one of those trades except maybe the Stone trade. Because we don't know what will become of Brannstrom yet.
You guys complaining in this thread don't have a freaking clue how a rebuild works. In 5 or so years, do you want mid/late-30 year old Karlsson, Duchene, and Stone getting massively overpaid, while well past their best years, or do you wanna have a stacked prospect pool for years to come, ensuring we'll be a competitive team for years to come?
