Brodie is not the answer.
1. He's a LHD who didn't play well on the right-side with Gio in the past. What makes anyone think he'd be good playing RHD with Rielly (or Muzzin)?
2. He's not particularly physical. Don't the Leafs want someone with some grit?
3. He seems to be on the decline in practically every respect.
Having said that, Bennett would be an intriguing fit. - mjones242
right now the only thing they should be concerned about is getting defensemen that can actually defend and help get their goals against down and their pk% up. brodie takes dermott's spot in the lineup when rielly returns and the leafs either sit him or trade him for .......... another defender that can defend on the right side. brodie was +29 last year and + 6 this year, i don't care how many points he gets as long as he can defend and make life just a little bit tough for opposing players. i would take a chance on him. |

Hearing #Canucks are closing in on a deal to send Troy Stecher & Sven Baerstchi to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Sounds like Tyson Barrie is heading the other way.

Maybe, but why go through the motions with a player who the Sabres scratched? Is having Bogosian in the lineup worth the headache or energy? This is a player the Sabres have been trying to dump for two months now and were willing to eat half of his salary to make it happen.
The Leafs would be better served playing Liljegren if they can't land a legit Top 4 defender by TDL. - mjones242
He should be playing regardless. Makes absolutely no sense that Marincin ever sees the ice ahead of him. |

You are right. But there still has to be a better option by playoff time than playing the most rookie pairing ever. |

To NJ: Bracco, lilijgren, Ceci & a conditional 4th rnd pick 2020- 3M salary/year retained
To Tor: P.K.Subban (6m/y remaining until 2021)
PK would thrive in TO. |

No he wouldn't.
PK Subban is more obsessed with his image and his branding than he is about winning a Cup. Subban's mental space is more about what he's going to do after hockey than what he's doing right now. He would love to come to Toronto because that's where his family is and where he could make big dollars promoting his brand but on the ice, he'd be another Phaneuf. Big name, big dud. Not the guy for the job.
Vegas makes sense. Maybe Dallas. Any big flashy market where he can promote himself. But not here. No thanks. |

He is spot on there in his assessment. Hell no to PK.

I also hate the trade due to the fact we'd be giving up one of our young, cost controlled defenders in the deal. Why would we trade Liljegren when he's finally proving himself NHL ready, plays on the side we lack depth on, and is making 0.863 mil for the next 3 years? |

PK Is a commercial commodity and I'm not buying.
That being said, he does have a spot for Toronto. He is a talented hockey player and he may fill some needs and he would do it intently wanting the best for Toronto the entire time regardless.
He has a passion for the city.
I neither reject nor endorse this sentiment nor would I personally run this angle on my own dollar. But Toronto is a different market for PK than the rest and that much I am willing to testify to. |

Let's get Wayne Gretzky too. I hear he was pretty good once upon a time. Oh, and Nick Lidstrom for the defense. He was pretty good a few decades ago. Then to make sure we are set in goaltending, we can dig up Johnny Bower and put his corpse in net. |
