PK Subban is more obsessed with his image and his branding than he is about winning a Cup. Subban's mental space is more about what he's going to do after hockey than what he's doing right now. He would love to come to Toronto because that's where his family is and where he could make big dollars promoting his brand but on the ice, he'd be another Phaneuf. Big name, big dud. Not the guy for the job.

Vegas makes sense. Maybe Dallas. Any big flashy market where he can promote himself. But not here. No thanks.

He's a less promising, older Kappy. I'm impressed Boston got anything back on a deal including Backes. They did retain salary though. Retaining was never an option for the Leafs

You are right. But there still has to be a better option by playoff time than playing the most rookie pairing ever.

I'd really have no problem playing Liljegren. Especially if the Leafs don't/can't make a trade or if it's between Liljegren and Marincin or Ceci.

Asset management. We have lost lots of assets for nothing as of late. (JVR, BOzak, etc). You need to keep the cupboards stocked with prospects and picks in a cap world... Something we seem to be forgetting as an organization...

We have the big guns, but we need a stocked system to avoid crappy 3-4 th lines (see current team...!)

Teams in playoff positions often lose assets for nothing. Its not exclusive to the Leafs.
