Could Andersen play better? Yes.
But he is so far down the list of problems this team has it's really not even worth mentioning.
The Hurricanes had a frigging middle aged zamboni driver in net for half the game and won.
Think about that for a second. - floater_willy

The goalie is not part of any blame when the team gives up 47 shots, almost 20 giveaways (probably more like 40) and can't even get shots on net on the PP against a beer league goalie. - JohnFergusonJr
getting shots on goal on a PP is 100% irrelevant to a goalie.
do you know what is relevant to a goalie. Stopping (frank)ing pucks. Fact.
.872 is one part of many that wasn't good enough tonight. |

47 shots against is not fine
15 shots for in 40 minutes is not fine
0% on the PP is not fine
50% on the PK is not fine
19 giveaways is not fine
.872 SV% is not fine. - UsernameUnknown
.872 is forgivable when the team in front of you is getting outmuscled around your crease and you faced 47 shots. |

If it was a one off game, I'd be more inclined to agree. But he's been terrible since January and as much of the problem as everyone else. |

The major reason why .872 SV% happened was because all of the other poop happening in front of him. That's the part that you people just don't get. - JohnFergusonJr

Leafs are certainly more talented, but it's rare to see the Canes get outworked.
Probably the most underrated thing about Aho. He HATES to lose and busts his ass all over the ice. Not a big dude but he's going to do whatever he can to get that puck off of you. - BINGO!
They have stellar beer league players, but when games get dirty, they disengage. This team has lacks the O'Rielly/Toews/Marchand/Doughty edge that it takes to lead a team. Matthews or JT need to bring up their physicality. Not saying that they should break their knuckles in a fights, but at least get chippy and throw their weight around. They are both heavyweights in this league and play some soft hockey. I mean, Ehlers has as many fights as your entire team and the guy is the size of a timbit |

precisely... finding one guy to dump on after an abortion like that game is childish.
so stop doing it.
Andersen was not to blame for the Leafs total lack of emotion, internal fortitude and brains tonight.
but its all good... its a day off tomorrow to play XBox or whatever, do a few lines an generally phack the dog... "some platitudes with the media about how we need to be better"...
its all good. and when it isn't...we'll blame the goalie
- BorjeFan4Ever
I would hope it's not all blame the goalie but if he's gonna give up 5+ every night it's not unreasonable for him to be part of the conversation.
We are 4 days removed from the roles being reversed and him getting shilled while the rookie on the other end took way more shots and made it look easy after all. |

Nah, it kind of isn't. It shows how a team can kill penalties even with a beer league goalie in net, unlike the Leafs.
Can't stop the puck as effectively when the D is giving the puck away, not clearing the puck, not clearing other players from the front of the net, giving up 21 shots in a period etc.
Ever wonder why goalies have poop SV% at all-star games? Because nobody is playing defense. Same in Toronto. All-Stars playing 0 defense and then blaming the goalie. Zero logic and completely wrong. |

Leafs lose to Carolina. Lead by jersey hung from the crossbar. What a (frank)ing embarrassment. Couldn't even finish the game. Felder vs Hooker was a good fight though! |

Unforgivable!
7th best SV% over the past 5 years, having faced the most shots and playing the 4th most games? Irrelevant. He should always stop every shot in every circumstance. If a goal goes in, blame the goalie. Because Toronto. |

Great fight but Hooker got the hometown judges discount.
And now Wilder vs. Fury II.

Well he needs to learn how to or get a new job. It's his job to stop pucks. That's it. When Marner isn't scoring, people ride him. They don't make excuses. When Barrie plays like poop, people ride him.
Andersen isn't infallible. There are no excuses for him anymore than anyone else. |

don't waste your breath.
always amazes me.... almost violent need to pick on one player or the other, irrationally defending regular do-nothings like Nylander... yet so easily jump on the guy who has to clean up the mess almost every night.
the team as a whole clearly illustrated that they are CAPABLE of playing a team game, and responsible defensively... when they want to or when they are awake enough to do so.
they are CAPABLE...they just simply don't want to often. |

See, that's what I'm saying about taking it square in the bumhole when someone lumps him into the conversation.
Yes he did have a great game on Thursday, the team in front of him also played far better.
And because of that no one is supposed to say his name when it comes to his other 15ish suspect starts? During which both him and the team in front of him have largely been poop?
You guys act like Andersen is your little sister and someone's offending her. (frank)ing get over it. |
