It's not entirely true. Leafs core players are still mostly under 25. There's a lot of growing they still need to do, not just as players but as people.

Other than Tavares, Muzzin and Andersen, the Leafs core players still are mostly children.

This is why it's time to pick and choose which children get to stay and grow and which get moved for a veteran or two.

Can't win with a team full of 40 year olds but a team full of 20 year olds has it's pitfalls too. At some point you have to sprinkle in the right amount and the right type of leadership and experience.

It’s disconcerting to see this effort in what should be a cup-contending season. That was the mantra last summer, echoed by Leafs fans and verified with record merch and ticket sales (ticket sales are constantly strong). We should’ve known the worm had turned though when the coach was fired. If Babcock couldn’t make it work with these heartless jokers...well, he’s not the best, but the coach ya’ll are looking for doesn’t exist. You signed the biggest coaching name when he was available in Babs....it didn’t work. Then you promoted the hottest ‘young’ coaching prospect in the game....it too, did not work.

Buffalo isn't going to suck forever. Neither is Montreal and Florida. The days of being a playoff team by default are numbered. That could end this year.

I don't know, I think those teams could actually suck literally until the sun explodes. But ideally yes the Leafs should be studying the teams above and emulating.

Hell I'm more worried about Detroit getting good again than the Habs.
