Lehner and Hellebuyck are doing fine getting more quality chances.

They will beat out Florida for the 3-slot, and then get embarrassed in the first round.

What if next year it's relatively the same and they win the presidents trophy? Going to still call it a pile of crap?
- Aaron_85

how could winning the president's trophy be the same?

the same pile of crap playing better more consistently wouldn't by default be the same.

rather than trying to pick a fight with me.. because I dared to criticize Dubas' in action, or you darlings who phacked the dog last night in a huge way...

why don't you take a step back and ask yourself why is this team so unmotivated so often? what are they actively doing to change the way they play? what are they doing to close the defensive ineptitude gap - that has existed since Marner was in diapers?

the short answer is - nothing.

it took Dubas more than 12 months to address the obvious issues with back-up goaltending.

Dubas took a risk acquiring Barrie in the summer, and that hasn't turned out. So are we going to wait another six months to realize that Barrie isn't helping... and lose him for zero assets? doesn't sound like a "proactive" plan - a guy like Dubas should have.

Dubas creatively got rid of Zaitsev taking on another risky defensive situation with Ceci... that hasn't turned out particularly well either

Dubas let Hainsey walk in FreeAgency.

Dubas chose to enter the season with two proven NHL defenseman on his roster - Rielly and Muzzin. His back up plan for the defense was non-existent - because he never gave Harpur, Schmaltz or Gravel any real opportunity. In short he waited for something good to simply happen. It didn't . Thank goodness that Holl played reasonably well...

Dubas was the GM when they picked the captain, many are now questioning that as well.

with that all said - what has Dubas done well? Yes, he's assembled a group of talented individuals... that play, when they feel like it... well... .just not often enough or whenever there's any adversity.

so yes - in short it is currently a pile of crap from top to bottom. you want to play on words to make yourself feel better, have at it.

This "team", this collection of individuals is underachieving massively

Sorry our opinions differ 🤷🏻‍♂️

Never said he was HOF, but I’m pretty confident every goalie in the league would have similar stats behind this group.

- Garnie

By all means you're entitled to your opinion. It's an added bonus that you don't seem to take it so personally when the topic comes up.

I disagree. I think some would, but I think the idea that some of these soft goals (5 hole especially) would indicate there's a book out on him on top of the team's struggles.

I wouldn't say any goalie is going to get shutouts every night in front of this disaster, but there are a number of goalies that would be performing far better.

Some nights not giving up that 2nd, 3rd, 4th goal may be just what the team needs to get its poop together.

Ya, 5 hole hasn’t looked great...anyways. It’s been beaten to death...I’ll just ignore the blame it on the goalie posts and it’ll be easier for everyone I guess

I just look at stats.

When you watch just one team and can’t re watch every single save by every goalie you are evaluating.

Stats tell a lot.

And I see two goalies having no problems making saves even though they are getting tough shots. Their teams are still letting a bunch of goals in but the goalie look great.

Andersen has looked bad since November.

Also. Text and sarcasm don’t work the best. I try to avoid name calling for it. do as you please

The big difference is that by saying Fred needs to be better I'm not saying we need a new Fred.

Blueline? We need a new one of those. Bottom 6? We may need some new guys there to.

Fred like the big guys just need to step their games up.

Accountability boys, you haven't been near good enough. Everyone that throws that jersey on needs to take a look in the mirror.

Zero accountability from the media too: they never ask tough questions, and they're just as smug and entitled as the players are.

Yup.

The D doesn’t get a free pass because Freddy has been bad and Freddy doesn’t get a free pass because the D has been bad.

No one is saying this is freddys fault. Except for maybe RR.

I never thought they should sell until after last night, they should get whatever they can just like st Louis did a few years back, the players were upset, but it clearly turned out for the best.

This team isn't good enough, might as well be realistic and get assets. It doesn't mean give up, but dont lose assets for nothing like Barrie

What I'm suggesting is you're overreacting to what is currently going on. Take your head out of your ass and take your own step back with a deep breath.

I'm not defending the lackluster play for at least 3 out of the past 4 games.
I'm not defending that Dubas hasnt made mistakes.

What I will say is hes been GM for 5 seconds and because the team doesnt look the way YOU like it it doesnt mean he isnt doing well or wont do well. Ever make a mistake at work before? Would you like your boss to one and done you too?

Plenty of GMs make mistakes and yet they arent fired. We laugh at the sabres for their revolving door of coaches and gms and really do we want to be the same? Give the man a fair shake of a few seasons. He had to undo previous mistakes while he wasnt GM and let him fully get past those.

I'm not over reacting at all. Team is a pile of dung right now. Dubas has two years more or less.. and has the team improved ... at all.

Merely stating facts about what Dubas has "accomplished"... he made some bets, they failed. Team is playing like dung.

If that means I have my head up my ass... I'm okay with that... better that than shoved up someone else's.

Dubas is doing decent imo. He has built up a team of talented players to start. Now he has to fill in the supporting cast moving forward. What he does tonight and tomorrow and moves this off season will be what he should be judged upon. Got the talent part, now fill in the pieces Dubas. If you (frank) up then ill criticize..

- Buck Norris

giving credit to dubas for matthews marner nylander and tavares is like giving credit to a new ceo of coca cola for extraordinary sales and profit history of the company especially the 2 years prior to his hiring. matthews was a slam dunk, nylander was drafted before dubas as was matthews, marner was a hunter guy and the leafs organization had wanted tavares back since before he was drafted and basically encouraged dubas to attempt to sign him.
