Goddamn steal for both teams. Claim him for nothing, get a 3rd a couple months later. Sometimes you just gotta take that chance.
- hereticpride

Curious if AV would have any input into a deal like this.
I’m not saying that Fletch could have picked up Kovy for a 3rd rounder but would he even have inquired?
Imo it wouldn’t be beyond reasonable for Fletch to ask AV if Kovy would fit into the system.
Might not make sense salary wise but can’t see it hurting the caps here.

I would've given a 3rd for Kovalchuk possibly

I wouldn't have minded that.

Ok welcome back Wayne. I’ll send the devs a 4th maybe 5th round pick.
Otherwise welcome back when you retire Wayne your awesome.

Flyers don’t need simmer at any cost. Hate to say it but that appears to be reality

Especially with salary retained. I cant imagine there wasnt a better offer.

He would have been good on that 3rd line so we could bump Pitlick down a line.

I think he would be a better goal scorer for sure and maybe help the PP. I don't know that he would be better on the forecheck or on the back check in pressuring the puck. Pitlick has a motor that doesn't stop.

What about the 76k in cap space it would have taken?
My prediction is the player Fletcher acquires tomorrow will have double the amount of points Kovalchuk puts up with the Caps.

Here’s a scenario.

The flyers make a trade during the carnival but have an agreement with the other team on the announce time due to good business practices. Inform the players at the conclusion.

Since no one was actually discussing trade rumors thanks for the entertainment throughout the day.

I wouldn’t either. My question is did the team see a fit for him.
These kind of deals always raise questions why said team didn’t do that deal.
That’s why it’s curious if Fletch would have done that deal.
Could Kovy play 2nd line minutes?
Or would you bump up JVR and put Kovy on third line.
I’m curious to see where he fits on the caps team.

No they don’t and it doesn’t make sense cap wise. As a personal decision it would be great. As a hockey decision not so much.

For the right price, this is a move I could get behind.

I’d be fine with that. I wouldn’t give beyond a 4th, if that now seeing that Kovy just went for a 3.

This could be an option. I’m not sold on Frost yet this year. Imo he needs to play heavy minutes with the phantoms. No doubt he has the skills.
I’m just not convinced his game works at the NHL level yet.

Boston added Kase, and the Pens added Zucker. Fletcher has some work to do tomorrow to keep up.

Grant is a 4th line option. Frost is not that kind of player.

I agree. I think he needs some time still. Especially when it comes to playoff hockey conditions
