We use to have a joke in Montreal. Why wasn't Jesus born in Quebec? They couldn't find three wise men or a virgin.
Do you really want a doctor from there? |

So with the TDL done, it's amazing that every single year, people and teams realize how much they overpay on the actual day, yet it always continues to happen
Miller was a conditional 1st and a 3rd
Toffoli was a 2nd, b grade prospect, conditional 4th
Demelo for a 3rd
Dillon two 2nds
Martinez two 2nds
Coleman for a 1st (lol exception)
Today:
JGP was a conditional 1st, 2nd, and conditional 3rd
Andreas athanasaiou was two 2nd round picks.
Goodrow was a 1st round pick
Lehner for a 2nd
Skjei for a 1st
I'd take the two earlier trades that benning did over anything that happened today, or the other earlier trades mentioned as well, minus coleman trade |

It is getting easier to sell off Draft Picks . GMs see multiple ways to rebuild or stack the cupboards.
We drafted OJ at number at number 5 and he has played less games than Rafferty for the Canucks who was a NCAA free agent.
Pittsburgh have had one first round pick only in 6 years. They have also traded multiple second and third round picks in those years.
Canucks have a very young team and do have 7 NHL future prospects That is a lot of youth and I think they can get away with not having high draft picks for two years as they build a strong core.

Skjei for a first seems solid to me. But i otherwise agree. |

I still would have liked to have seen them recoup a pick or two today or shed some salary, but given the injury to markstrom, and not giving up anything for Domingue, Benning being quiet today was better than him being overly active IMO. |

I thought it was an overpayment.
Hes top pairing, and plays PK, but if they got Deangelo for that 1st instead, I thought it would have been a good deal for both. Deangelo plays PP quarterback and has nearly twice the points. |

Benning has already said he will get the picks most likely at the draft table but along with that you will lose player you like. You are probably looking at moving Jake Gauds Stecher Demko? |

I was speaking more specifically to Sutter/Baertschi being the ones I would have loved to have seen traded today.

You can’t buy what isn’t for sale. A top pairing d man with 4 years left for a 1st is a steal. Just because there is a better guy unavailable doesn’t mean it isn’t good. |

You don't like Sutter but Green does. I think he finishes his contract.
Benning said they were close to moving Sven but the teams found other options. |

current CBA ladies and gentlemen:
Bob McKenzie
@TSNBobMcKenzie
As I understand it, CHI retained 50 per cent of Lehner’s salary/cap hit. TOR retained 44 per cent and VGK carries the remaining 6 per cent. TOR gets a 5th rd pick for taking on a $1.1M cap hit or slightly less than $200K in actual expense.

I hope they never take that away. The cap was brought in to help smaller budget teams be competitive, but if everyone is working within the same floor and limit, then money should be fair game.
Any GM that can spend to the cap should be looking to buy picks with every TDL transaction |

I think Jake is at peak value right now. Would've loved to know what the market is on him right now |
