Glad we didn't do anything crazy but surprised we didn't see a depth Dman added.
The Vatenan deal was pretty cheap considering some of the deals, Gustafsson as well.
I wonder if they were in on them. |

Jim Benning on defensive depth: "If we have injuries, depending on who we're replacing, we'll make decisions based on the style of the play that the particular defenseman plays (in Utica). We feel that we have 3 or 4 guys down there that can play with Rafferty being one of them." |

Interesting tidbit:
Canucks goalie coach Ian Clark came up with a list of options for Benning to consider acquiring. Domingue was near the top of the list, he said.
Considering how well Clark has done with the goalies he's worked with, could he turn Domingue into a serviceable backup? |

Stecher elated to stay with Canucks. Here’s why:
“I’m a lifelong Canucks fan and they have no Stanley Cup. I think it would be really cool to bring a Stanley Cup to Vancouver. That’s part of my bucket list as a hockey player. I’d love to be part of the group to do that.

Is that a signal to Benning that he will take a 50% pay cut because that's what it would take. |

We've already got one of Benn and Fantenburg sitting with Sautner and Rafferty waiting. Seems like we are okay on D without grabbing another teams version of Stetcher. |

Let's see him win the Cup here and forever eclipse Dana Murzyn in the annals of mediocre Canuck defensemen. |

Yeah JB likes the team and his farm and pulled the trigger for injury replacements that were better then their depth.
Besides for D there is also Tryamkin as a possibility too. JB said he had him papered in on the reserve list making eligible in season or playoffs. |

Two best players, JTM & TT, traded this season are on the Canucks. Looking at market costs by other teams they were pretty fair deals. |

Sure glad kings GM couldnt wait to offload toffoli after seeing today's deals. Demko's Team now and they are a close team, I would be surprised if they caved. |

I was wondering the same thing. I think he should be, because it was either a Kostitsyn brother or Radulov that returned one year for Nashville. But I'm certain there is some contract/player status thing that determines it - WhiteLie
I think there are a few different things at play here. 1) because the Canucks still maintain his rights to the NHL he isn’t required to pass through waivers before joining the team. I forget his name, Russian goalie that had left the NHL, and then signed late in the season with a contender, but had to clear waivers and Garth Snow claimed him for the Islanders. 2) because he has been under contract with another team, I believe he would be eligible to play in the playoffs, like signing a college free agent, or your own college player when their season is done.

Wow Ottawa has three 1st rounders, could all be top ten, and four 2nd rounders, if they get two or three kids out of that to add to their young group...look out, they’ll be good in a hurry. |

Good and he kept his 3rd round pick so he can pick another Brisebois and Rathbone in rounds 3 and 4 in this extremely great maybe best ever draft. |
