The #Sens a first in 2020, a second in 2020 and a third in 2022 in exchange for Pageau from the Isles. There are conditions on all picks. #TradeCentre

A source thinks the #Canucks were getting close to moving Sven Baertschi but it fell apart.

They will keep trying but Canucks moving Baertschi most likely an off-season move now.

I think it’s trade now or never for Sven. If not gone today I agree he will be bought out in the summer.

Take a 7th round pick for him. It doesn’t matter. Better than having his cap hit on the books after a buy out.

No one wants a 3 mil AHL player with concussion history. He will be a 2 mil cap relief this summer unless you can package him into a Simmonds trade

True.

How’s he been in Utica? Has he increased his value with his play down there?

Absolutely none at all apparently

He has had a decent year but the fact is no one wants a 3 mil AHL player. Same as teams don't have interest in Alzner from the habs

I remember last year everyone talking about a really deep draft. J Hughes K Dach and K Kakko have not hit 10 goals yet after 60 games . Two of them have 20 points and one has 19.

Generational players don't come around every year. It is nice to get young players and they should be part of the plan to the future but settle down.

- VANTEL

They probably should be playing in junior/lesser leagues, but their teams are so bad, they don’t have better players. Sound familiar?

I had a dream that we offloaded le, stetcher, bearschi and Benn. We only lost OJ and next years 2nd and added a resigned Barrie and Toronto added Severson from NJ

Totally agree . My point is more about the delusion of fans as that soon as you draft a first round pick you are instantly better.

I honestly thought NJ would be better, but not because of Hughes. But boy was that wrong.

It was a deep draft, just because ole Vantel doesn't understand the process doesn't mean it wasn't a deep draft. Very few NHL'ers come in at 18 and light the league up like the Crosby's or Ovechkins or the McDavid's, that doesn't mean they won't be fantastic players, it doesn't mean they will either though.

Joe Thornton had 3 goals his first year, 7 points, he's going to be a first ballot HHOF'er when he retires with more than 1500 points.

Bo Horvat was a 9th overall pick and it took him a few years to establish himself, now look at him, he's a great second line center option (for a 3rd line center).

Instant success for kids is completely unrealistic, just because you don't get a generational player doesn't mean you didn't draft a great prospect.

Your organization is instantly better because you're building depth, it may not happen on the ice instantly but your team is better off instantly for sure....oh, and good morning

Disagree, it's easy to look at Baertschi in the AHL now and Andersson a key player for the Flames but most 2nd round picks don't turn out.

At the time and for the first couple years it was definitely a good JB trade in terms of value and results. Perhaps it was a bad resigning by him but I don't think it was a bad trade.

It’s his inability to turn these acquisitions into some sort of value when they no longer fit into the team’s plans that frustrates me.
