Andrew Ladd would be part of the return going to Minneapolis.

Parise has five years remaining on his current deal at $7.5M, while Ladd has three years at $5.5M.

This is a false narrative. 2nd round picks are only slightly less likely to pan out. In 2015, the year Calgary selected Andersson, 2/3 of the players drafted are playing NHL games. Some, a significant amount.

And the year before there were probably 6, 2015 looks like a good year for 2nd round picks. I'd be willing to bet over a large enough sample you still end up with only a 3rd of them playing over 200 games.
