Nope. McDavid is a talent that transcends the "generational" label. Very few players in the history of the NHL are at his level. He's in the Gretzky, Lemieux, and Orr strata. You can literally count this type of player on one hand.

Matthews is in the tier below that. Generational.

Your "point" about 5v5 is irrelevant. It's a fact that can't be overlooked.

Matthews has better stats than Draisaitl did in his first 4 years. Matthews > Draisaitl. And Matthews isn't playing either with -or- behind a transcendent talent like McJesus.

McDavid overcame what would have been a career ending knee injury for many people. The guy is a machine.

Elite on a level as Lemieux machine. Lemieux also overcame what would have ended many careers. Those guys are at the top of the generational class. Then Bobby Orr, then Gretzky. Imo.

He was bad. Don’t see why you always feel the need to argue with others that he was “ok” when he was clearly off his game.

No one is blaming Freddy. He was bad like everyone else. Simple.

I feel as if you have an issue with people calling out Andersen’s play because you see it as a way for fans to let the team off the hook...it’s not. Freddy was bad and so was the team. Both didn’t help eachother out. Both contributed to failure that game.

The guy faced almost 50 shots. The team in front of him was flopping all over the ice. They gave up great great chances all game. What could Freddy do?

Blaming the goalchie for a bad game is easy. I think Freddy was good, not bad. The team in front of him couldn't play for poop. But Freddy was good, not great, good.

Good lord,

If you think we are idiots here, the people calling in to the Fan590 are all suggesting we trade Marner.

I believe there is something wrong in that room. I have no idea what it is. I seriously doubt it is a single player somehow bringing down the whole team and if it is, I would be surprised to hear it was Marner. Yeah, he is overpaid and yeah he is in a funk and was horrible apparently on Saturday. It just seems like a huge leap to conclude that the problem will be corrected by trading him.

I would still point the finger at the coach or even at the captain, before pointing it at Marner.

what about marner's dad?

Hey, they got a 3rd for free basically. They are accumulating picks while we are giving them away like hallowe'en candy.
- Aetherial

Thats what a team actively tanking does. Toronto under LouLams did a masterful job of turning marginal players into draft picks.
But comes a time when the tanking is done and those picks need to be used in the rebuild. That, ideally, is where the leafs are today.
