@KurtLeavins
As we reported at The Cult earlier today, Mike Green had a modified NTC. Submitted a list of 10 teams he would say “yes” to. Wanted to come to the #Oilers and Edmonton. Very good acquisition, excellent price tag.
Well that's endearing - MaximumBone
He earns points there but who wants to play in Detroit this year? I’m still thinking a RHD gets moved tomorrow

I'd like it to be Larsson for the bigger return and cap savings but think it'll be Benning, much to my chagrin. |

You're the last poster on this site to ever tell anyone else to stop, so how about you make like a hot dog at a Shriner's convention and (frank) OFF!!! |

No way to quantify the possible impact, but adding Green even for a stretch run might afford the young D an opportunity they otherwise wouldn't have had: learning from a once-elite offensive Dman at the NHL level. The Oilers haven't had such a player in over a decade so maybe there's some wisdom Green can impart on Bear, Jones and Bouchard (if he's up for the postseason) in his short time here. This holds pretty true even for forwards. Since Hemsky, the Oilers have lacked veteran scorers to help mentor the youth along.
I would guess there's something to be said for having an ex-scorer who was able to adapt his game over the years to keep being effective despite the offense dropping off. Green may not be Weber or Chara, but he seems to be a respected veteran voice that has kept himself "above water" after the offense started drying up. |

Totally agree with this, I really don't see a downside.
