I'd like to point out that we're mostly talking about a minor deal involving depth forwards when we should be panicking over how we're going to manage beating a Washington team that now has God's greatest gift to the hockey world, Daniel Sprong?!? |

Ha ha....No. I have visions of seeing Sheary worm his way back to the 1st line. I'm no fan of Simon on the 1st line, but it makes my skin crawl thinking of Conner Sheary getting knocked off the puck like a child again. Simon at least stays on his skates.
Furthermore, I thought we kind of fleeced Chicago with Kahun. I think he's pretty talented. Terrible deal.
I like the Marleau deal though. - madmike71

He only comes on here to make fun of us for not being blind JR loyalists whenever he makes a questionable move. He’s the kind of child that thinks you’re not a real fan if you’re ever critical of something your team does. Usually only pokes his head in to talk about awesome Jack Johnson is for making everyone on here “cry”, which should tell you all you need to know. He’s to be ignored. |

At the end of the day JR remained true to the system/player type. All players are quicker skill players who should work well in our scheme. Even though some are upset with the Sheary trade (myself included). Him and Evan Rodrigues do bring speed to the lower lines. Thankfully we did not land Simmonds or a slower player who would have been like a square peg in a round hole. I think time will tell on this deal.
I think it's disappointing to lose Kahun, but these moves do allow us to work through any additional injuries our Forwards may obtain. We will be getting Bjugstad, Dumoulin and Marino back hopefully soon. Which should be a bigger boost to the team. A healthy Penguins team with our new additionals should make us a dangerous team going forward. |

I’m not enthusiastic about giving up Kahun because of his speed and all around play. He seemed like a comparable to kapannen. OTOH I am skeptical his thigh will heal quickly and that presented a problem. the AHL 4th line getting 7 min per game seemed be wearing the top 6 down. |

I was thinking...
Zuck-Sid-Mars
Shear-Geno-Rust
Simon-McCann-Horn
Rod-Blue-Tanev
Mars and Shears can be swapped if need be. I think it's pretty balanced. Zuck, Rust, and Horn are kinda the bangers, Sid, Geno, Simon the playmakers, and Mars, Sheary, McCann the shooters. |

I was thinking about how the lines would look as well. I think Rodrigues was brought in to be center though (even though he can play all forward positions). Which should open up Bjugstad as a top 6 winger option when healthy.
Zucker Crosby Bjugstad
McCann Malkin Rust
Marleau Rodrigues hornqvist
ZAR Blueger Tanev
I have a feeling this might be the end goal with a healthy roster excluding Guentzel coming back that is. I know Sheary and Simon will push for a spot as well. I think Rodrigues will make his case to stay in the line up though |

Regardless of he was an RFA or a UFA, he was getting a raise that the Pens most likely can't afford. So, getting two UFA's makes no difference. Let them walk or sign them cheap... - cranktheradio
Rodrigues is a RFA already making 2M, he's probably in the same range as Kahun.
The Pens could have afforded Kahun without a problem, but perhaps they decided they didn't. Perhaps they'll give that money to Sheary or Rodrigues. Or let both walk. Who knows, I'm just not sure they needed this move. |

I was just thinking that two teams with 6 cups between them in the last 11 years gave up on the same player in one season when he was producing well....maybe he likes his partying and party accessories or some sh!t... |

So IF we can get to the third round we can probably welcome back Guentzel. 1st round no way, second round is a stretch maybe towards the end of it because it'll probably be against the caps and that'll be 6-7 games. |

I agree. I think they definitely could have afforded Kahun without an issue. I think honestly it was a last minute move by JR (I think he was hoping to land a 3rd line center and he looped back for Rodrigues and Sheary). He may have been pushing for Big Joe or others, but when the price was too high or when he found out that his top center options were staying put. I think that is when he made this move.
Rodrigues his previous seasons was quite successful for Buffalo he shows great promise. In his last 14 games played he has 5 goals and 1 assist. I know he had been scratched a lot this season, but when he was able to play consistent minutes it seemed he did well. He was one of their better penalty killers last season and defensively responsible forwards. I think he lost his confidence a bit, and this move I feel should be a good fit. |

How healthy is Kahun right now, they said game time decision against Buffalo then he didn't even play Sunday. Maybe he's more hurt than thought and Ruth moved on for this year. Losing Kahun is not a big deal we'll be just fine. The only thing we can hope for is that Sheary pots goals because when he's not doing that he's not doing much at all.. |

Could have but there are other teams out there making deals, can't win em all. Honestly I really like the Zucker and Marleau trades and the Kahun for Sheary and Rods is fine. |

Just heard Rutherford on the radio. Basically confirmed my worst thoughts. He "could see" Sheary reunited with Sid on the top line. Lord help us.
I'm sure the Capitals fully endorse this idea. |

No I would say the second round possibly, IF we get to the third he should be good to go. But who knows maybe he's healing we'll and can make the second round. But we have to get there first.. |
