He hasn’t driven play like he can.
5v5 he has been meh for his standards. - Santo_44
Meh, a couple analytics stats are down, some are up.
Still producing at a career record.
Not every player improves year over year over year.....actually most dont.

Marner has shown up in playoffs.
Nylander nowhere to be seen.
'Fans' still arguing marner should be traded before nylander |

I'm interested to hear what fans honestly think the problem is. It's cliche but with their talent, this shouldn't be happening.
To a lesser degree, the Preds are having the same issue (not nearly the talent level of the Leafs, but on paper they shouldn't be where they are) and everyone in Smashville is scratching their heads too. Both teams fired their coach and not much has changed. So if it wasn't really coaching, that the heck is it?
It's just interesting that some teams do this (The NFL's Cowboys come to mind) and I wonder what the solution is, other than blowing it up and starting over. - FoxMulder

On the radio this morning they were questioning Muzzin getting 5.6 and then 5 minutes later saying Pageau is a great move. - RogerRoeper

Experience, some additional pieces... For the Leafs getting their number one Dman would help. The Leafs' record under Keefe with Rielly is being forgotten.

Pageau has hit 20 goals once in his career, this year. He has 40 points right now, and he just got 5M. He is overpayed big time. Kapanen just got 3.2M for 3 years and people were up in arms over his "overpayment" - Archaic
Lou overpaying a player?

Nashville and the Leafs issue this year has been goaltending - PatC80
We've had better goaltending lately. In several of the losses, both goalies stood on their head and didn't deserve the L. What gets me is that our "stars" have been MIA and what was once a defensively sound team has become a joke. Plus stupid turnovers, penalties, inability to clear the puck, not taking shots, too much passing...I mean honestly it's like they've suddenly forgot how to play hockey.
It's crazy.

I don't think he is either.
Numbers say he's good at getting the puck out of the zone but never does anything with it. |

Manson looks ok but he is not close to worth Marner. - RogerRoeper
Never said that.
My point was that top 4 RHDs (Marner would fetch a top pairing D) are a rare commodity, which is why you don't see them moved very often.
Vatanen (who's hurt!) netted NJ two prospects and a conditional 4th for a rental.
It's the reason why Barrie was never going anywhere. |

I'm not saying it's a steal for Carolina. They paid a good price to get him.
But will he end up helping them on defense? I'm pretty sure he will, yeah. - Scabeh
that and with Toronto's condition on the draft pick, and the stipulation that the Rangers take the lower of the two 1sts, Canes might end up with no firsts this year and two next year instead. |

So which leafs team shows up tonight?
The one that cares, sticks to a game plan and that we've seen only a few times this year?
Or the one that is only interested in padding their stats, not playing for each other and can only play one way?
there might be a 3rd option, but its only marginally better than the second option.
We'll see.
Lets go on a run boys!
We really need to go on a run boys.
Really. - Fakepartofme
My guess is a similar start to Thursday.
If Andersen is solid and the Leafs get the first goal, they play a great game.
If they give up an early goal. It could get ugly.
The effort will be there, but they too fragile.

The Trocheck move was fantastic. The Skjei move is fine but the price was high.. Injuries came at a bad time for the Canes. |

If Tampa scores on their first shot on goal in the 1st period. It won't end well. |
