Sounds like Pageau was Plan A and Koivu/Parise Plan B. But negotiations with Ottawa and Minnesota were taking place at the same time.
Once Plan A succeeded, Minny lost interest in Plan B. They really wanted that 1st. - Wildschwein
Would have been pissed if they traded a 1st for those two dinosaurs |

Greiss first goalie off for #Isles.

Don't worry. Greiss has got this. |

I thought the JGP deal was done before the Ladd Parise talk was out, am I wrong?
Or maybe after they landed JGP, they were still exploring getting Parise and dumping Ladd? - nyisles7
Yes. But Minny wasn't as keen at that point. Friedman said that it was Minny that eventually nixed the deal. |

The Pageau deal was one of the earlier deals completed on deadline day, before 10am. Pretty sure all the Parise talk made it out well after that, but that doesn't mean Lou/Guerin were operating on that timeline I guess. |

Have to imagine that Bellows came off the table once they were discussing Parise only. Plus the 1st was gone. |

I also remember seeing tweets a day or two before the deadline saying Koivu isn't waving his no trade so who knows |

Yes, I read that as well.
I’m not a buy out expert, (Chiefs) but could the fact most of Ladds money was bonus and Parise’s was salary that Minny would still be on the hook for a lot of Ladds $$$ and the buy out really doesn’t help? |

Johnston off ice with regulars for #Isles. Martin remains out with extras. So does Greene. Dobson was in the room with the regulars for tonight.
Johnston/Dobson in and Greene/Martin taking a seat tonight |

I’m thinking JGP was plan A and Koivu was plan be that may have broadened to include Parise and Ladd.i don’t think we will ever really know though.
As Vukota said The Koivu wanting to stay in Minny talk was out there a while ago. |

Buying out Ladd does nothing because of the bonus money. If we bought him out this June we'd save about $666,667 for the next three years and then have three more years with $333,337 counting against the cap. Not worth dragging it out for 2x the length to save 2/3 of a million dollars in cap space for three years.
Not to mention if Parise retires early then MIN faces all the recapture penalties. Even though we'd be taking on that awful Parise contract, MIN would still be shouldering a large amount of risk. |

Minny wouldn't pony up Brodin for Trochek?
Why the (frank) not? I like Brodin, but I like Trochek a hell of a lot more. |

Meh, I'm not overly impressed by Trocheck. Good player, good contract, not great at staying healthy and has had precisely one great season playing on a high-end offensive team. |

Stop it, he knew Johnston couldn't get at him with the officials in between - Vukota
I'm just saying, he got a screw loose. Although I think Quinn told him to stop fighting because he is way more important on the ice. Still can't believe he is 6th in points for defenseman and he was basically a throw in with that trade. |

Yeah, but consider Minnisota's situation at C next year.

No argument on that one
I love Eriksson-Ek though. Guys (frank)ing loathe him, he drives other team's players absolutely nuts. Throw him in that deal and I'll include Bellows |
