I always get a kick out of the difference the press covering a player gets when he is an Islander compared to other teams. If JGP signed with Rangers or Boston you would hear about it being a Great contract for a young 2 way center that is just coming into his prime. .... he is going to Fourish in Trotz system ..etc.

instead it was a reach and we overpaid for him..

Guy is on pace to score 30+ gials this year. He is 27 years old which just happens to be the age when tons of guys click (Okposo, Nelson, Bailey, etc.). His numbers suffered last year b/c he was battling with injuries. He is going to be great for us.

Islanders didn’t over pay what they did was get a player that they needed and fit their system like a glove. I don’t have a problem what they paid to get him or the contract they gave him. Love that JGP is part of the Islanders.

Also he was getting a ton of minutes in ottawa so his points increased but he will get less time here. Well that's because we are a better team with more depth and that's a good thing

Very positive developments. Wonder if Lou and Greene have any interest in getting a deal done?
- ses111

For the right price I would absolutely bring him back. Let Dobson start the year in the AHL and make JB they 7th dman unless they trade a dman in the offseason. Greene has been very solid and being a 15 year veteran spending his entire career in this area I can't see him wanting to go anywhere else unless back to Jersey to finish off his career

If (big IF) they decided to move Leddy for some cap space....bringing Greene back on a one year deal would be a home run.

Without a doubt and lets be honest I think a couple of players have to be moved in the offseason and I can see either Leddy or Bailey being moved along with somebody like Hickey ,Clutter or Leo (with a prospect like Aho attached to take one of the last 3 mentioned)

For me I had him leaving as pelech was back but if they kept him and moved leddy that's a different story

Not saying I think it will happen, but moving Leddy works on multiple levels. They gain $5.5M in cap space (assuming no salary coming back), they can probably recoup a 1st round pick for him, at least, being that he's only 28 and has two more years left at a very reasonable $5.5M.

Devils have three first round picks and a pretty ugly looking defense. I could see them as a fit, even with Ty Smith probably making the jump soon.

Montreal is very weak on the left side. Can't imagine they trade what's sure to be a pretty high first rounder, but there might be something to be worked out there.

Winnipeg is going to need defensemen as well. Kulikov is a UFA and, after Josh Morrissey, they don't have much on the left side.

I have no issue with this Vukota. It makes sense to keep Greene around.

Leddy for sure should get you a #1 pick. I do not think Bailey gets you a #1.

Haven't heard much about Pelech. Will he be back for the playoffs or was his injury season ending completely?

I believe, if he comes back around the time they estimated, it would be around the end of the first round. Hopefully he's ahead of schedule though.

Agree, getting top minutes in all situations will be great for his confidence/ development.

Next year Dobson should start in AHL which is where he would have been this year if not for that dopey rule. If he is doing fantastic in the AHL or we have injuries he can then be called up.

I would love if they brought Greene back for another year. Not at 5 mill but if you can get him for the right price..definitely.

I think he almost has to start in the AHL. Even if they traded someone and resigned Greene, they can't have him rotting in the press box for another year playing every 8th game.

Don't want to trade Leddy.. seems to be getting better with Trotz coaching. (Now Boychuk on the other hand... bye)

I wonder if they don't try and send Hickey back closer to home in Calgary, not unlike what they did with Hamonic. Hickey's brother just had his brain cancer upgraded (downgraded? whatever, it got a lot worse) to a glioblastoma and is, in all likelihood, dying. He may want to be closer to home and I wonder if some of his absence from Bridgeport wasn't necessarily because of an injury and was him being back home with his family.

Very sorry to hear this and prayers for the Hickey family. Would be very nice if Lou could do this.

The point of trading Leddy, other than cap space, would be to recoup some assets lost in the Pageau deal. Boychuk, assuming we even could find a team that wants him, probably isn't worth jack poop and may even cost us something to move his contract.

Unless he works hard and bulls up this off season and comes to camp thicker and ready to handle the physically of the NHL.
That said there’s nothing wrong with him starting in BP if he comes in and doesn’t earn a spot.
Shame he couldn’t spend the year there this year. Stupid rule.

I agree it's not about not liking Leddy. Leddy is one player with salary that would have value. I would not mind Boychuk being a 7th dman and bringing back Greene like Vukota mentioned. Going to be real tough to trade him.

I think starting Dobson in Bridge is the right move. That rule is lousy.
