Offensively, they only scored a single goal in games 2, 3, and 4. It's amazing luck for the Isles that the Penguins were legit contenders four years ago, three years ago, two years ago, and this season...but from April 10 - April 16 last season they forgot how to hockey. It's definitely not because the Isles did one or two things right and played a solid series against a good team.

It's still about matchups UIF. The Pens did not play a grinding shutdown type game last playoff series. Can you honestly say the Isles match up well against teams like Boston and the Canes? Do you see the Isles being able to score the deflection and dirty goals on a consistent basis. This is more than a mini slump. The offense was not great last year. The team is struggling to play both solid defense and score enough goals.

Friedman just said that Bellows was going to go with Ladd to Minnesota for Parise for no added value back... why? Said Bellows was a showcase and that the deal was in the works for weeks but fell apart for $ issues.

I remember when I suggested they were showcasing Bellows a lot of you gave me quite a bit of flack about it... just sayin.

Sure, it's about matchups. Boston is basically a better version of the Isles, so, no, I don't think they're a good match. That doesn't mean I thought the Penguins were just a bunch of pushovers last season, though. I mean, whatever style they play, it was good enough to get them two Stanley Cups, so it's not like the Isles just took advantage of some fluke team that squeaked into the playoffs by luck, or a team that didn't know how to win in the playoffs.

I really do think a lot of it's about offense this season. It's not like they don't get chances; they just don't put those chances away, and then it starts to come apart from there. I think it takes a mental toll when you're in the other team's zone for 15 out of 20 minutes in a period and you go to the locker room down 1-0. Once or twice, maybe they shake it off, but when it's more of a pattern, it's gotta have an effect.

If they had one really dangerous forward who knows how to just find the back of the net...while all these other forwards find ways to miss the net or hit the goalie square in the chest...then I think most of the good support players they have would calm down a bit and follow suit, and they'd make better use of the time they get in the offensive zone. From there, I think the rest of their game would fall into place a little better.

I still think Bellows is a better option than MDC by the way. The kid is a sniper... can do all the MDC does and score once in a while.

Well we'll just have to see what happens next year. Martin is probably, rightfully so, gone and there will likely be an opening at the 4LW and either 2/3RW position, assuming they don't re-sign Brassard. There will probably be some competition for the 3LW spot as well. I like Dal Colle, but I think his upside there is limited. He could be a fine replacement for Martin on the fourth line.

Assuming they're both still with the organization, I think Wahlstrom and Bellows will be given every opportunity to make the team

it was funny at the time.. did seem odd to me they called him and Otto up right before trade deadline.

Bellows and Ladd for that awful Parise contract would have hurt.

That’s Aho not Bellows #1 and it was a knock on what we were doing with Aho not on you. If you go back further you would see I was on board with giving Aho playing time. Jesus man.
