Idk, like 5 minutes of research would yield 10 names better for that price.
Anything he's even remotely okay at right now (like defensive impacts) the Sabres already have in abundance. And all the things he struggles at, the Sabres really struggle at.
It just doesn't make sense to dedicate a roster spot to someone like that. - Michael Ghofrani
He's tough, and he's allegedly good in the room. Two things the team is said to be lacking. And he can probably pitch in 30 points. He's way better than Sheary. I'm thinking short term until some of the yutes are ready. And if push comes to shove, you waive him and save a shade over half the deal. |

Most teams don't. With offense such a premium, can't afford to waste cap space on it. - Michael Ghofrani
Which is definitely a problem for us. They have to decide which bottom 6 guys they want to keep because they have a poop ton with more coming |

Hutton ..... excellent assist on that goal |

Jost is looking pretty good. |

I mean, he got decked by vlad namestnikov. These guys are all athletes, capable of laying hits if need be. Didn't Gerbe dust some guy a little while ago? Given the state of the game, spending money specifically for a skillset that goes counter to playing an uptempo high possession game seems like a bigger waste than using it to light a cigar. - Michael Ghofrani
Sanheim tripped more than anything. Sure these guys CAN hit/be tough, but none of them do/are. |

Disagree all you want, Sheary is not a good player. He has 3 good games a year and then is a ghost. |

It's not so much that I think sheary is good if good is defined as say top 6 or whatever.
Its more that, in terms of overall impact, Simmonds is among the worst in the NHL |

Nope he couldn't force it...but could entice him.
The list of excuses for him continues to grow.
GM of Carolina, in an emergency situation and competing with Florida manages to pull off three trades of significance....mind you, he should have found a 4th for a goalie, lol. - IonSabres
It’s not an excuse
When you’ve made the best offer & the team doesn’t make the trade with you,
there’s nothing more that can be done
Good grief
You’re just being ridiculous now |

I’d have done it
But from what you said, it sounds like the Sabres like him more than i do
He’s a decent 3rd liner imo, but nothing more |

I like Sheary’s effort but he was noticeably timid against the Jets. Checking up and coasting, avoiding contact. Simmonds has looked strong and was relentless in the first period with Skinner. I like that line thus far, but their erratic, tenuous play might not compliment Johansson’s style to slow the game down and have puck control. Then again, might compliment each other very well. Too early too say.
