We said this last year about Point too
Cirelli will sign a team friendly deal
And they’ll ship out some of Palat, Kilorn, Johnson, Gourde, etc to make the room they need
Happens every year - jdfitz77
Killorn has a partial 16 team NTC
He’s gone and they’ll convince one of the other three to waive. |

I've noticed this trend. Which lends credence to a statement I made earlier this year. He will bounce back. He needs an offseason to figure his poop out. |

Oh wow, that's exciting. Thanks for the info
Hopefully you're re-signing Sobotka too - jcragcrumple
Nope, shooting sobotka to the moon and beyond.
You were spot on with that call
You find it interesting that they gave #17 to wayne already? Do you think they asked sobotka?
Seriously, you signing girgs and Larry at 2 x 2 =4 each |

Sobotka knew his place in this organization months ago. They were fully aware that he was not returning for the season, and to the Buffalo Sabres. |

They're 3rd liners based on usage. I dont think Larry produces enough offensively for that role. Zemgus is having a nice year with an unsustainable shooting percentage - jcragcrumple
Curious about the shooting % comment and what we should expect moving forward. Agree that his 15.4% is not sustainable, but previously his best year offensively was at 13% under Ted Nolan. 4 years under Bylsma and Housley it was 6.2-6.4%.
Was his year with Nolan and this season with Krueger what we should expect. Or should we expect him to regress and play like he did with Dan and Phil?
I would expect moving forward that the current system is a much better fit. It's not like those guys are out there sniping shots on net, it's the gritty hard earned goals that they are converting. SH% is more reflective on guys like Skinner imo. |

I'd probably give gus 3-4 years. Surely shooting 15% this year is sustainable and he wont go back to being the 7 goal scorer he was for the previous 4 years |

It has, so I assume they will find a way to move some of these guys, but going to be hard to move as many as they may need to,
Palat - NTC
Kilorn - NTC
Johnson - NTC
Gourde - NTC
Point, no clause but I don't see them moving him
Cerelli, gotta believe the keep him
He may just be right with Stammer...$8.5m is a little high though, especially with over payments already to Skinner and Okposso. Also, I don't think that qualifies as "cheaper" category for the Acquistion side.
God, I hope he doesn't go after Johnson nor Gourde as 2C's |

He’s getting goals by doing what we all expected him to do and be.
Hard working and crashing the net.
Let’s hope he’s finally got it and can be that 15/15 guy we all wanted him to be from here on out.

Their both UFA's at the end of the year, wonder if they stay here for that?
Didn't Larsson express a desire to leave last offseason?
Lazar proving to be as useful as Larsson, maybe with more upside on the offense and better on the dot.
I'd let Larsson walk and save $500k. - IonSabres
Larsson is a real nhl 4c defensive minded guy.
I think we keep the nhlers that play within their parimeters.
Girgs might hit 18 goals
Lazar is solid as well.
I rid us of the guys that underperform at their position
Vesey - middle 6
Sobatka- middle 6
Johansson- middle 6
Mitts - middle 6
Tage - middle 6
Wayne - middle 6
At least look at these guys, see if they fit their role |

He was also the 1st line center under Teddy. I do think both earned a raise from some team. Thinking that Gus is going to replicate this season in terms of offensive numbers isnt going to happen though. He's a 7 goal scorer having a very nice year.
I see people are already penciling in all the guys we want to keep. If you keep that line, the top line, mojo, skinner, simmonds and Kahun, you're talking about changing 2 forwards for next year.
That is not a thrilling proposition for me

2021 2nd rd pick - navinrjohnson
I think a big difference, other than being in the division, is that we didn't have someone that could step right in like Carolina could offer with Haula.
One thing that I haven't seen mentioned in the trade is that because Carolina traded Haula before the end of the season, they now owe Vegas their 5th round pick as well. |

Fair enough. I'd be a little worried about girgs x more than 3 years.
Larsson- I'd give him 2 or 3.
Log for 3 years at 9.5 - 10.5 a year?
Right now that's looking good
Olo $ 4 mill - eichel $10- sam $6.65
Skins $9 ( 2c ) - jo $4.5
Tage/ mitts / dozens $1 - lazar 1 - simmonds $2.5
Girgs 2 Larsson 2 okposo 6.5 |

Very good fourth liners, playing 3rd line minutes.
IF Botts can ever field a decent middle 6, I would assume those minutes go down as well.
Lazar is as good, costs less, and can create a bit off the PK. - IonSabres
Don’t know if he can fill that heavy defensive role though
I’d bring back the LOG line AND Lazar
Injuries will occur
I love those guys as the 10-13 forwards
Improve the middle6 & their minutes go down
They’ve played great
And i don’t think the savings we could get justifies taking a risk in dumping what we already know works really well |

With the year Okposo is having this year, you might be able to move him to some team looking to hit the cap floor. Jcrag is right. While they three of them are all playing very well together, they're all having outlier years. Expecting this again next year and/or the year after is not wise. |

Agreed on upgrading the middle six, I just see redundancy with Lazar and Larsson.
Interesting you want to dump Simmonds. I thought for sure you would love him. I liked his 1st game and would be ok with 3RW for a season. |

Good post,
We changed out 2 guys on Tuesday already
2 more forwards are probably tage, mitts, asplund/ dozens
Change out 2 on d and 1 at goalie, that's big turnover .
Plus Johansson and lazar this year

Grouping Simmonds and Kahun into 'keeping the same guys' isn't exactly fair. The two have combined for 13 minutes of hockey for the Sabres. |

Actually I forgot Lazar. So yeah, based on that, there would be one spot different for next year. That doesn't appeal to me at all to head into next year with the same group of forwards. |

Well you're keeping 3/4 of those guys. Simmonds doesn't need to be here, but a guy who has some milage left, like him, would be extremely helpful. If you do keep him, you chalk him into the 3rd line. It's up to the team to find players to.. erm.. synergize.. with him.
1st line
Skins-find (frank)ing someone-Kahun
Mojo-find (frank)ing someone-Simmonds maybe
LOG or equal with Okposo.
Cozens in all likelihood is here. Does that make Simmonds, a personality they clearly covet, a 13th F? Can you trade MoJo? Does Botts really depend on Cozens at 2C at his age 19 (20 in Feb) season? Are you filling the 3rd C with a 1-2 yr stop gap? Where's Casey going to be in September? What about Tage?
That's not even getting into the defense. The 3C will need to carry the line, as Simmonds can't do that and neither can MoJo. |

All 3 of these guys have had strong nhl seasons beyond this year.
What if the coach who's returning, uses these guys the same way they've been successful this year?
Systems, motivation, zone usage- whatever krueger is bringing out in these guys cant be discounted completely
I understand the shooting % for girgs is probably an outliner |

You gonna find some 20goal scorers to play on the 4th line?
Or plug Lazar & Asplund into that role & think they’ll score 12+ goals (and play good defense?) |
