How is he not currently sheltered ? Do you think teams are throwing their top d-pairs out there when our “4th line” in terms of ice time is out there ? - Pegullaville
i didn't mean it that way, I just meant that's really all you can do because playing him 20 minutes per night isn't really an option when he's not going. |

His ice time is dwindling because we play a defensive structure and the guy can’t defend. Nor is he scoring. So what good is he right now ? - Pegullaville
He is overpaid, no doubt.
Clearly he needs good linemates to improve his production.
It is the primary reason I get more pissed that Jason "Almost got it done" Botterill wasn't able to find a way to land Trocheck. Even overpaying to acquire him would have been ok when you consider his great contract, production, and his ability to create....it would have helped Skinner incredibly well, and at only $4.75 one could virtually allocated $1.5m from Jeff's contract to make it more acceptable/justified.
Ugh.

YES!!! We signed Skinner, we all need to get over it, and for the record if we would of let him walk this board would of went ape poop. We all have figured out by now that Skinner needs a capable center to be productive, he never was and never will be able to drive his own line. Why ppl are expecting this is beyond me.
it is up to Botts to figure this poop out.

Apparently there is a " rift " so to speak between Skinner and Krueger, Krueger does not like Skinners practice habits. They say he's slow and lazy in practice and doesn't seem to want to change. Krueger feels that Skinner should be ready and hustle even though it's practice but it seems this is not changing. Just another reason why he doesn't get " rewarded " I guess you can say on game days. Skinner doesn't look happy. - SABRES 89
Marty Biron reflected these thoughts last week on the show.
Thanks for sharing. |

Fun fact- Jeff Skinner has more primary points than Olofsson, despite his centers being AHL quality, as opposed to Jack Eichel - sbroads24
And Skinner isn't a set up guy...
5v5 shot generation will keep him going to some extent. Hopefully Ralph smartens up soon, or Botts gets a real 2nd line together for him to play on. |

The numbers cited were sheer volume. There are far fewer cases of Coronavirus than the flu currently, so naturally the % is going to be higher. - buffalofan19
Not so sure.
Yes the Flu has killed more than CoronaVirus.
However, if the mortality rate stays even 33% of what it is running at, while the raw counts of infected go up...it doesn't take long for the raw number dead to pileup and approach the Flu.
I also saw that at this point here in the US and most other countries, wearing masks for those uninfected is of very little to no help. It is far more important for those actually infected to wear them.
That may change as the pandemic grows |

2 goals in 3 months is not second line level in any terms. Slump or no slump. Every regular on the team, except McCabe and Miller, have more goals than Skinner in that timeframe. Lazar playing 5 minutes less per game with zero PP time has twice as many goals. Skinner is still averaging 2:32 PP time and still second on the team in shots.
Whatever the problem is, he needs to figure it out. If he wants to play with Jack, then he needs to earn it. The coach doesn't feel like he's earned it. No one cares what he did last year, it's all about what he's doing this year. - adambuffalo
What he’s doing this year is being punished for practice habits. Which as a 10 year vet, who’s consistently been a very good player, it’s downright bonkers.
Our coach is worried more about practice habits, and people like Zach Bogosian’s feelings, rather than winning hockey games.
He’s a bad coach |

What's your argument in regards to Krueger and nearly every player not named Skinner playing better than the previous two seasons, some having career years?
Clearly it's Krueger's fault that Skinner forgot how to play hockey after getting paid $9m. |

It needs to be part of the thinking of acquiring a real 2C. Yeah, that could cost you north of $6-7m, but you're wasting $9m of Skinner currently by doing what they're doing |

Ristolainen and Montour are one of the leagues worst pairings.
He keeps them together
Marcus Johansson measurably one of the leagues worst centers. Keeps him there.
Zach Bogosian, one of the leagues absolutely worst players, kept dressing him over Colin Miller or Pilut.

NHL Coaches Jeff Skinner's had:
Paul Maurice
Kirk Muller
Bill Peters
Phil Housley
Ralph Krueger
This is his 10th NHL season and the problems he had when he started are the same problems he has today.
That's not really a coaching issue. That's just a "This is who he is" issue. You gotta find a way to maximize what you get out of that. - BINGO!
Good post bingo

Fvckin Botts - IonSabres
This whole narrative needs to be revisited and people need to relax.
According to Chad who broke all the trades, he said the Sabres offer was better than what Carolina offered.
If the Florida GM didn't want to trade with someone they will be fighting for the last spot in the playoffs based on the new format how can Botts get the fault for that?
Had he not made an offer then be mad. He is clearly looking to upgrade the center position |

Vanek was lazy during the games. He coulda been so much more with his God given ability. And I watched him since he was 15 here and at UoM. If he wanted, was the best player on the ice. period. He just wanted to like 1.2% of the time. - SDSabre
You are wrong.
He wasn't as fast as people imagined he was. He wasn't 'skating slow'. He just couldn't skate faster.
Listen to Peters on the Instigators sometime, hear how he defends Vanek and talks about how hard Lindy Ruff was on him for no real reason. The idea that Vanek was lazy is ridiculous. The dude showed up for big games and playoff games, was one of the most consistent goal scorers in the league, an underrated passer, and worked his tail off. |
