I actually think that's a notable difference from previous years... I wonder if that's something they are trying to do to keep the puck in play... move up to the wingers quickly.
- BorjeFan4Ever

I can't see that being deliberate. A disproportionate number of shots hit him and he doesn't cover or move to cover the puck. I think he's losing the puck more. Maybe he has different equipment and isn't used to the puck movement off of it, but he should be after several months. A disproportionate number of shots enter and exit his glove.

I wish I had those types of numbers, because that's where I'm not happy with Andersen this year - he is not managing his rebounds (ie, when to freeze, where to direct them, and most importantly actually catching them).

Garnie thinks he has a good glove hand, so perhaps it's me, but I've always thought his glove was below average, and this year it seems worse.

It's deliberate. It's the same idiot mentality where the Leafs circle back into their own zone to "maintain" possession of the puck. The Leafs want to keep the flow moving all the time. That's their game plan, as flawed as it is.

His glove is good, his 5-hole this year has been below average.

I’m not going to get into the goalie thing anymore but that goal was a prime example.

Rookie D - Sandin - doesn’t take away the pass, doesn’t take puck or the body

Pass to a 1 timer top corner

It’s all so similar the last couple mths

Anyways, I’m going to just enjoy the game and agree with the stats are what they are due to him.

Yep

I’m watching the Bolts feed and they said “he got the penalty for hitting a guy who’s 5’9”

I don't think it's necessarily flawed. If you have possession of the puck, don't give it up. That part I agree with. But I think it should be situational - depending on the numbers, depending on whether you're shifting, depending on whether there's pressure, depending on the score, blah, blah, blah . . . there are good times to not maintain possession. But if you can do it, you should.

I'll admit that I don't get to watch as much hockey as I used to since my wife frequently uses the phrase, "Can we watch not hockey?" when it's not the Leafs, and saying, "Then why did we get the Android Box?" is the type of response that gets me punched - but when I do watch other games, it seems the other goalies are catching and freezing the puck more than Andersen. Frankly, I think Campbell is better at it than Andersen in the small sample size I've seen.

That's fine - and to be clear - that goal is not on Andersen. It's a missed clear by Kapanen, and then Sandin got caught high.

My comments were more as a general observation. Many of the goals that beat Andersen are not his fault. But sometimes the momentum that leads to the goals that beat Andersen is something he can but doesn't control.

Puck possession makes sense in the offensive zone because it gives you chances to score and keeps the puck as far away from your net as possible.

Circling back to the defensive zone just makes it easier to give the puck away in dangerous areas. It will absolutely not work in the playoffs. Dump, chase and cycle works for a reason in the playoffs.

Rule was you can't freeze the puck outside the blue ice. That's why there is blue ice.
