I tell ya Vin, Trouba has been up and down this year, but we need this guy around here the next 6 years with all these young finesse guys here and coming up

Smith looked serviceable on D tonight too. With Trouba, Lindgren, and Smith you might have all 3 pairs feature someone who will give other teams nightmares with their snarl.

It's a LONG way from a given, but if Smith returns to somewhat of a form, we could match up physically with Boston. I don't think we'd be bullied around with those guys out there.

The refs were atrocious in that game. First off if a skater has his head down it doesn't mean you can hammer him. Trouba had plenty of time to avoid the hit. He knew what he was doing. The reason the NHL isn't reviewing is because the refs called nothing. It would look really bad if they said we are going to look at this and then give him a 1-2 game suspension. It would look as if they didn't do their job (which they didn't). Then to give a 10 minute misconduct to Pageau was ridiculous. 17 minutes? That is more than he has had in any game of his career.

Then on the disallowed goal, that might have been the weakest goalie interference call of all time. Lee is standing outside the crease getting hit by goalie and dman. Outside the crease is his space, not the goalies. He didn't back in. Look again closely. It was the dman's stick that pushed the goalie backwards, not Lee's. Lee's stick is facing center ice. Any interference was caused by the dman, not Lee. I am not saying the Isles would have won 4-3 because they most likely play for 1 point towards the end instead of pressing for the tying goal but to say the refs didn't have a major role in the outcome of this game is a joke.

If we do match up with Boston and happen to make the playoffs man is Lindgren going to be fired up.

I want to see Lindgren go full Cloutier on the Bruins. Just challenge the whole team.

Lee was fighting for position w/ dman...after he got the inside HE continued to push INTO crease and interfered w/ goalie, and goalie couldn't move freely in the crease. Not too complicated.

Every player in the history of hockey relishes the chance to crush an opponent with his head down. As long as its a clean hit, which it was, there is nothing wrong with it. It's human nature

eh...the hit was through the body. I will admit the head was contacted first but not because of what Trouba did but what MDC did in looking down. I didn't see it as predatory. Didn't stride to make contact, never left his feet, even to move through the check, hands were down, shoulder was lowered but unfortunately so was MDC's posture.

Don't cry about the Pageu penalties, it's an automatic call, just makes you look stupid.

If there was no interference called on the ice it would have been a good goal under review. Unfortunately for you guys that't the way it was called. In fact I think that way it played out may have been the best for the Islanders. They were rightfully pissed and the Rangers took a dumb penalty. It was all Isles after that...well at least until Panarin and Zibanejad took the ice in OT.

Skjei looked pretty good last night for the most part. With the exception of the weird bounce/turnover thing to start the game, he did a pretty decent job controlling play.

Hasn't like the past several decades of the league disproven that? People have made careers by doing just that and guys like Lindros have had careers ended because they couldn't keep their head up.

I'm all for making the game safer, but I'm not sure in that particular instance I would have given Trouba anything more than 2 minutes for elbowing. It was bit of a bang bang play and if MDC keeps his head up, probably looks like a nothing play.

- 2sticks1puck

I said this about Brett Lindros in the Islander thread and then I had to back it up because I'm not one of them

his offensive (and really all around but its been covered already) game really plateaued here. feels like the ottawa playoff game where pageu had 4 goals was the last game i remember him being a force offensively.

playing w/ slavin will help, and playing more sheltered minutes. trade really befitted both teams

Just keep him away from close friends like Vesey, Hayes and Trouba and he should be fine

schedule is no gimme , If they make it ,its cause they earned it ,this team becmes an X factor cause there no tellin where you can take the kids when they are all 110% bought in & laying it out there , growth comes so fast when the light goes on &stays
with Buchny back & Krieds past the ill effects of getting signed or whatever ,thurs /fri has the start of the critical 4 by sun. ,having taken the 1st its real exciting ,we do have a Pit vs Pitt back to back & a west coast trip to Col. & Dal. &Ariz. and back to road gm vs Tampa & WAsh. other than that its apiece of cake .....

stiil dont know why we burned 2 slot call ups for howdie & Gauthier for AHL P O's

what if : Hiajk ,Rykov what about Krastov? unless we hear Yigor is injured these days ? I D K but it strange we only have 2 move left ?

I’m convinced we can beat ANY TEAM in the league from what I’ve seen since January. They obviously won’t do that, but I’m not scared of the Boston’s, TBs, Caps, pens, etc...bring them all on...idgaf

Kravstov has looked quite a bit better and the offense is starting to come, but he's still not lighting up the AHL quite yet. Smith looked pretty solid last night, not sure if Rykov or Hajek get the call either. It's possible the team won't use any of the available callups left if there aren't more injuries and keep playing well.
