I referred to the first period, you highlighted my comment about the first period. I contradicted you with a fact. The fact we’re actually good in the first. It’s pretty simple also, see if you can follow along! - neem55
Well, I’d say their above average goaltending has contributed to the fact that they “are actually pretty good in the first”. I don’t think they played a particularly poor game but they didn’t get the same caliber of goaltending that they usually do.
But please, keep throwing your facts at me. I feel smarter already. |

All i said was they came out like poop in the first, which is actually unusual except the last two games. Because they outscore teams in the first and keep them to the lowest of all three periods. That’s it, that’s all. I can understand not liking being wrong, but this is ridiculous.
Also sidenote for all: that ot goal by the preds is a good example of why erik gustaffson was a bad idea... defensive liability im glad the flames have ! |

What, no faith in Demko shutting the door? - Load Management
The best goaltending in history couldn’t get a shutout with a porous team in from of them. Demko’s gonna be a great goaltender, still a few holes in his game but damn he’s got crazy good skills. He just turned 24, at 24 Markstrom had 43 NHL games to his name and he was still struggling to even make the NHL. At 25 he was still in the AHL. Demko’s already outgrown the AHL at 22. |

Does that also factor into Demko getting outplayed in this game by the Sens tender? |

They come out like poop to start games all the time. Makita has a running grudge about it. Even a lurker like me knows that. For the most part Markstrom has shut the door until they are able to get their legs.
I would have thought that would be self evident to anyone that watched more than a handful of games. Clearly you’ve proven me wrong.

Demko reminds me a lot of Marky a couple years ago: bad goals, scrambly, not tracking the puck super well, would come up with a huge save or two, but generally shaky. He'll be fine in time, but it took Markstrom a while – remember he was once considered the best goalie not playing in the NHL when he was with Florida's AHL team. |

Canucks had enough chances to tie the game in the third when it was 3 to 2, playing from behind doesn't work most nights. |

Yes I agree, both are really skilled but Markstrom’s learned to stop overplaying everything, he’s more still and let’s the puck come to him, plus he plays deeper in the net. Demko’s gotta refine that part of his game.
The puck used to always go through Markstrom, always had holes even wth a big body, he doesn’t do that much anymore....Demko still does. |

It seems they wait for the other team to dictate and then respond and sometimes sooner than later, in this game it was the later. |

He’s had the jitters both games since Marky went down, hopefully he can settle down. I thought the first one tonight was soft but the second is pretty tough deflection/blown coverage. As i mentioned, they could of had more bu tDemko did a bit better as he went. |

just seems like if that was the case it wouldn’t be the period that the fewest goals go in. I know it’s just a stat, but i looked it up cause i actually think they’ve been good in the first this year. |

An AHL fight between ended with Kale Kessy stretchered off the ice with an oxygen mask over his face, and gut-wrenching scenes such as that should be enough to end the fighting debate.

I think they’ve been better in firsts then they were last year, where it was so bad it was almost comical, but it still takes them half a period to get going a lot of nights. |

We have reached expectations, they are in the fight and they will battle and in the off season Jb gets rid of the dead weight. |

They shouldn’t allow staged fighting like that, get in between them and that’d be the end of that. Fights like Tanev had tonight are fine, spontaneous, although you can still get hurt they’re not a sideshow.
Trust me, it serves a purpose though, it keeps guys honest. |

Exceeded for me, I thought we’d be on the outside looking in and 19 games left and we are right in the thick of things. Hughes has made a bigger impact than i think anyone predicted. I think i was saying 40, which was considered insane, along with a few others. No one was saying 50. He hit 51 today and seems to not be slowing down offensively. |

I’d say they’ve exceeded expectations significantly. But since they’ve come this far, and since they gave up some pretty good assets for what may turn out to be a rental, it’d be nice to keep it going.
At the beginning of the season I would have been happy with meaningful games in Feb./March. Now I want meaningful games in May. |

you mean the dead weight he acquired? What says he won't make the same mistakes again? |

You could say that how he added Toffoli, Miller and Myers show he's dealing from a stronger position. |
