YOOOO, I finally gave up trying to find my old login info and started a new account. Catching up on things:

1. Hayes rules
2. Fine with deadline moves
3. I love the Assembly room
4. Children of Bodom only has one good album.

LET’S GO FLYERS!!

You're right, I must have missed this when it happened

"Less than a month after he lost his job, Montgomery shed some light on his situation. In a statement released Friday, Montgomery said he will enter alcohol rehab and that his firing was “a wake-up call” and “the appropriate call.” Montgomery was arrested for DUI in 2008, an incident the Stars were reportedly aware of the when they hired him as the team’s 23rd head coach before last season."

Good for him for taking the right steps.

Pens on 4 game losing streak. Pens have 1 game in hand with a 1 point lead. Passing them is becoming possible.
- xShoot4WarAmpsx

Yes the Pens are on a relatively easy schedule right now so great to see them lose the first one in LA. A win tomorrow might have us in 2nd!

If Hart is going to be The Guy for the playoffs, then from here on in, Elliott should only be starting in back to back situations and perhaps the final game vs Buffalo if they aren’t playing for home ice or to get in.
- BiggE

Absolutely. He is slated to be a goalie of the Flyers future not a home ice warier

I think it's imperative for the Flyers to finish in the top 3 in the Metro or in the first WC spot. That 8 spot is likely facing Boston/TB in the first round and the other in the second round. As good as Washington and Pittsburgh are, I'd much rather go against them (preferably Washington).

Absolutely, and deservedly so.
The coach who usually wins the award is a coach that improves a team significantly from the year before. Right now, how many teams are ahead of the Flyers who were projected to be below them when the season started? Not many.

I'd say right now the top 3 would probably be AV, Bednar, Brindy.

- PLindbergh31

Torts and Sullivan need to be in consideration as well. I am not a fan of either team, but getting their limping rosters to play for wins is quite a feat.

Agreed. Both have been missing their top players for long periods of time and are still in the playoff mix, although CBJ is just clinging right now.

Not bad at all and hard to argue it as one of the best..

I really like the Alice In Chains Unplugged performance. Sure their were mistakes but Layne Staley was literally a few weeks away from death so the setting and sort of somber tone with all the candles was sadly appropriate. Still watching them open with Nutshell always gets my attention then when Layne takes off his sunglasses it's almost like you are watching a specter sing which is tough to do when you know what is inevitable , fast approaching end was.

Just because I need something to listen before working out....

This is one of the best heavy metal songs ever by any band from any era IMO. In translates better on the album I think with some of mixing tricks they used but live ..this version...the silence leading into the huge riff bring it all back around the 6 minute mark..(frank) YAH.

How is he going to work on playing on the road during the off-season/camp (where he MAY play 3 games total)?
- jmatchett383

By working on the mental process of preparation for game regardless of venue. This can be done by training in multiple different venues during the off season. True, it's not a real "nhl game" but it's time for evaluation without the risk to this years good fortunes with what is a known quantity

Maybe folks disagree, but I'm not in favor of the Flyers risking the reward of playoffs to work on the away concern at this point in the year.

Let the tandem ride until it shows it's no longer the best option.

You're making it up as you go along. There is only one way to improve performance in road games. Play on the road.

The growth and development of Hart as a player is far more important to the future of this team than an unlikely long playoff run this season. The experience he will gain is of paramount importance. If he struggles badly than you can go to Elliott if needed. Right now, heading into the playoffs, Hart is the starter. A tandem is not the best option now.

Also fantastic. And Nutshell was the perfect song to open with. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Nirvana Unplugged was really good, but AIC was loads better. Maybe part of it, like you said, was knowing what happened later, but even in a vacuum it's great and very fitting.

Note: In reality, this show was well over 2 hours long. There's one song when Layne messes up and Cantrell says, "Hey, you guys get to hear extra music." In reality, they had to do this song 8 or 9 times because Layne was so messed up he couldn't get it. On the album/DVD you just see the one mess up and then the song.

Great choice for a great live performance. No wonder it sold so many albums. One thing though... Layne actually died 6-years (almost to the day) after this was recorded. He was definitely in a bad space here, but not close to where he ended up. One of the best rock vocalist ever IMO.

I'm sure he had ample time this offseason and every season since he entered the WHL to mentally prepare. And like Bill said, he had better road numbers than home last year. The only way he's going to get better at playing on the road is to play better on the road.

If the Flyers make the playoffs, are you suggesting to only play Hart during home games and play Elliott in road games? If you are, then I disagree strongly. If you are not, I'd want Hart's road confidence up before it's a playoff game.

Yeah, I think this was his second-to-last live performance. But still, you can see how frail and pale he is.

I've always loved the Pearl Jam MTV Unplugged performance. Still listen & watch it fairly regularly. McCreedy was on point and the power & emotion in Eddie's voice really shines against the acoustic music.

Damn it, I dont know why I said 2 weeks later.
Might have been thinking about what Jmatch said which was this being one of their last shows.

Anyway, thanks for keeping it accurate.

We’re looking pretty comfortable in that third spot on the division. Pretty great feeling. I couldn’t be happier for this squad.

they definitely created a little breathing room for themselves. can't go on any multiple game losing streaks really though, still a lot of games left.
