I wouldn't hate it if Gudbranson played with a puck mover instead of JJ. He's been a slightly above break even possession player in Anaheim along with his physical game.

If the JJ bashing were reserved for situations like these, I think these blogs would be more well received. Was last night Johnson’s single worst game as a Penguin? He’s had a lot of them but this one might be the tallest giant.

I have to agree with you. He was awful in every aspect.

I can't believe after that 2nd goal that was 100% on him, Sully trotted him out to start the next period. If I'm Rikki, or anyone for that's been sat after a bad play I'm fuming.

I was pissed after the game last night.

Especially if you contrast Rikki's game to the one JJ had. I can't believe they wont at least try Rikki somewhere else in the lineup.

Schultz Petts can't end soon enough either.

Legare with B2B hat tricks. He's turned it up after a slow start and might hit 40 again. At 33 in 54 games.

Poulin 32 in just 44 games.

- Tojo.

Nice there's potential for those two in the bottom 6 next year. Maybe even some top 6 time. We'll see though. What's Hallander doing?

It is mind numbing to read this $hit anymore. Until the return of 1/2 of the top 4 D-men from injury JJ is going to be in that spot. And that blows.

How about talking about the fact the Pens threw nearly 60 pucks at the back up goalie from one of the leagues bottom feeders and only scored one. How about a power play that is 0 for whatever lately.

I get that JJ sucks. And last night was less than an NHL effort but there were SO MANY MORE reasons the Pens came up short last night.

And so many more reasons to see positives from the team. Sorry, just frustrated.

Oh man, it was the worst. Rikky was making highlight defense moves hahah and JJ was botching everything in LA's zone...let alone that 2nd goal against. He basically neutered Sid, Zucker, Sheary and Letang all night hahah

That's the thing, when other guys play like crap and someone else is playing better, Sully usually demotes/promotes. But with JJ it's just he's there all the time no matter what. I think there would be less JJ bashing if Sully would do his damn job with him.

I was thinking about this last week. As much as the fans can't stand watching JJ next to Letang, most (if not all) coaches would be doing the exact same thing. Trusting the grizzled vet (JJ) over the unknown (Rikki). Not just hockey either. You see it in every sport.

yeah.... The Schultz and Petts thing is brutal too.

This.

It is the Coach that employs the lines. If only he would read RW’s OpEds on JJ sucking he might see it.

On top of that Rikki is the only Left handed D man on the team that can wire the puck.
JJ double clutches everything!

Johnson is a dumpster fire. Air mails the pass from Crosby with an open net, gets walked in front of his net when he has the best possible angle to force the puck carrier wide, and sends a pass into the opponents shin pads in the neutral zone with no support behind him (then gets out-skated to the loose puck in embarrassing fashion).

8 - 58
6 - 28
50 - 4

I thought Sheary looked confident, and I think Marleau is going to be very serviceable.

Probably the worst part of that play. All he had to do was wait for Lewis to come to him. Instead he tried to race him to the corner

The criticism of JJ is well warranted, but the obsession with him blinds this guy. Others just take the easy route of putting his awful games under a telescope, which is synonymous with not seeing anything in the periphery. Petterson has been completely awful for the last three losses. He even took responsibility (4v4 goal by Wilson, as well as another that game).

The game starts off with Letang being outworked by someone and taking a bonehead penalty. Then, on that PK, Petterson is standing there like prized dog d*ck while his man stands alone in front of the net, stick free, for an easy deflection. I am not defending JJ, but I'm more confident he would have at least tied the stick up (like it or not, he's strong on his stick in those kinds of "don't have to move around much" situations). He got burned on the GWG, but he wasn't the only one missing passes and getting burned last night. I expect a duck to quack, but Petterson is supposed to be better, and I believe his recent mistakes have literally costed the Pens points in the standings over the past couple games. Everyone cries about Schultz, but he had a pretty good game last night.

Hornqvist, the team leader in goals per 60 [but only can play like he's wearing oven mits (?)], and Geno have been the only ones bringing it lately. Even Sid looks dejected.

Pettersson was on the ice for 11 scoring chances for compared to 1 against, while playing the 3rd most 5v5 minutes of any defender last night. He was really good.

It's almost as if 2 of the team's Top 4 D have been out for extended periods of time.

Yes.

I've said before that Sully is currently pairing his #1 with his #6 for obvious reasons. Trouble is Letang probably stays out there too long at times, and this just makes things worse for JJ. He's done a respectable job for the most part being out of his element (3rd pair). Last night he failed, and everyone is entitled to one or two bad games. Letang has certainly had his share of them.

Does Johnson have picture of GM JR or Sully doing something obscene?
There can be no other explanation. This is NOT new! Johnson has been this bad since before he first suited up for the Penguins, yet he is continually trotted out there in first pairing roles. WHY ?

I get why Sullivan has Johnson with Letang as who else are you going to put there. However, I think you do Petterson, hopefully make 1 good pairing and hope to god the other 2 can be fine until Marino and Dumo get back.
