Just as tough for Florida. Maybe even more so with added pressure as they’re sitting outside the playoffs. - Steven_Seagull
Absolutely, both teams have to win. Doesn't change that it's still going to be difficult for the Leafs. They can't play the rest of the way thinking Florida is just going to fold. |

I know you like Doughty but if Florida misses the playoffs...again I definitely think Dubas should see what the cost for Ekblad might be.
He likely isnt on the market hut might as well ask! - Aaron_85

Sure, ask but they will say no. Tallon likes that type of D and won't trade him. He's trying to recreate the Blackhawks and he's getting close in some regards. |

Looking "off" might be because he had an ankle sprain. Those don't go away when you keep playing on them, night after night.
He also might be "off" because the NHL took notice that he was a leading primary assist man last year so they're focusing on him more because he's still young and relatively weak.
I'll take an "off" year at 96 points, no problem. Better than the bullpoop Nylander pulled last year. - JohnFergusonJr
I'm in no way suggesting we trade him or anything, I just think he could be better than he has and most of what I think looks off is his decision-making with the puck and risk-taking.
Still think he's better with Tavares though. |

Have you looked at Carolina’s D?
They have 5 guys signed next year over 4 million plus owning Vatanen’s rights. And Haydn Fleury to sign.
Might finally be the year you see a Hamilton/Pesce to Toronto trade.
They traded for Trocheck with multiple pieces they might be willing to take a package to get some prices back for a defender. |

You cant for sure say they will say no. Tallon could be fired and a new GM may want to turn over some of the core.
Just like you cant say for sure Doughty would come.
I would center that deal round Nylander too. |

Also possible and the owner likes multi-year deals so someone like Nylander could entice a Pesce. I would think Hamilton might be cheaper but I'm guessing. |

I’m not trading Nylander for Pesce.....
Nylander>Pesce and it’s not close.
I Pesce has been bad this year.

Hamilton or bust, unless we hoist the cup then they can stick Hamilton in their arse. |

It's highly unlikely they say yes. If they were so inclined to move him, they'd go outside the division and they'd probably find another offer from another team so as to avoid trading him the team they're competing with for a playoff spot. Can you think of many 1st overall picks that go traded within the division? I can't off the top of my head. It's certainly rare.
There's more reasons for Doughty to come than for Ekblad. The experience Doughty would bring is added value that Ekblad doesn't have. Leafs need more guys that have "been there and won it" and at 30, he's got enough to give them the best of both worlds. Plus the Muzzin connection, instant chemistry is always good. |

Marner's having an off year. Galaxy brain passes, floaty perimeter stuff. All the things Willy has been chastised for in the past.
I think he'll turn it around.
I think he should be back with Tavares though. Matthews doesn't need a setup guy as much as Tavares does; Matthews needs another Hyman on the right side to go get him the puck. - gravyface
He's looked pretty bad for 15-20 games now. He will always put up points but he's a giveaway machine and his shot is almost non'existent.
I think he will obviously turn it around and he's a great young playmaker. But at 4 million more than Nylander I think it's pretty darn close |

Doughty does not want to play for Toronto. He had the chance to sign here and decided to re-up with L.A.
But do continue with your Drew pipedream narrative. |

15 points in his last 16 games since the All-Star break. He kills penalties so he's doing his defensive work in that area. Only -1 since the All-Star break too. That's not "pretty bad" at all. |

He didn't want to play here when he thought LA would still be competitive. But LA is poop. Doubt he wants to play 0 playoff games for the next 5+ years. Muzzin, his good buddy, is here long term. Many things have changed from when he had the chance before. And things could still continue to change. - JohnFergusonJr
It will 100% never happen. Let it go. He's not leaving LA. |

They can talk extension with Hamilton immediately as well.
I’d imagine that would entice the Leafs. |

Yuge win. Leafs are good again, Matthews doesn't need to work on his effort level, Dubas is perfect, my farts smell like beef jerky, life is good. |

Yup, nobody ever gets traded. Ever.
The LA Kings have traded pretty much everybody but he's going to waste the rest of his days on a rebuilding team. |

Like I said, he will always put up points. Leafs penalty kill is 26th in the NHL so he may be on the penalty kill but, that doesn't necessarily mean he's doing a good job.
The problem is with his decision-making, situational awareness and untimely giveaways.
Anyone who has watched the Leafs for the past month or so and doesn't think something is off with Marner is out to lunch. |

Not sure what Hamilton injured, but it would be Leafy to get him and have him start sucking. |

In 54 games, he's been on the ice for 16 PPGA. That's not too bad.
Whatever is "off" about Marner, it's been hitting the entire team. Pretty unfair to single him out just because he most recently signed a big contract. Plenty of nights where even Matthews has been ineffective or invisible. It's been the whole team, not just Marner. |

Hamilton was playing amazing before he got hurt. Doubt the Hurricanes move him.
Hurricanes don't need anything but a real goalie. They have pretty much everything else they need to play the way they play. |

With one year on his contract he could be had for less.
