Blues won with the 6th best defense and the 15th best offense. Both were probably higher than that from Jan. 1st onward.

But on average, a top notch defense helps more than it hurts.

In the past 20 years, a top 10 defense won the Cup 16 times. Top 10 offense won it 14 times.

Safe to say, having both is the goal on average.

Because he's a UFA and can go anywhere he wants, including the Penguins, the Lightning, the Capitals, the Bruins, the Knights, the Blues and so on and so forth.

9 goals and 24 points? Not that impressive on a team that plays all out offense. Not that much above average for him or his style of player.
