The Leafs are giving up ridiculously easy chances on the PK, this is definite. At 5v5 I find that Andersen has been less than himself. Regardless, I feel that he is rounding back into form.
Again, my thing with him isn't that the goals are his fault or can be faulted on the team - my thing is that we have expectations based on past history that Andersen will make these elite-level saves and he has not done so this season.
Being a top-10 goalie comes with that expectation.
Simply put: I'm not defending the team defense because it's abysmal. But I'm also not abdicating Andersen because he has not played at the same high level as we're used to. - Monkeypunk
It's like that on 5 on 5 too. Like I said, and challenge everyone to do, go back and watch the highlights. Watch the goals. The open nets, easy tap ins, uncovered players, the giveaways etc. are atrocious. The dip in SV% is because the defense has been ineffective and hurt.
Again, plenty of huge saves all year long if you watch the highlights. 2 on 0 breakaway in OT vs WPG. Goal line save against Buffalo. Huge saves in Carolina. Sitting back and expecting your goalie to stand on his head speaks more to the poop defense than the goalie. Huge saves are an added bonus, not an expectation, for a team that plays properly. See Carolina with a Zamboni driver in net.
He hasn't been perfect but the vast majority of the goals against haven't been his fault either. Team needs to improve many other things before they need to worry about their goalies.

With San Jose sitting near the bottom of the standings, the veteran center was willing to waive his no-movement clause in order to join a legitimate Cup contender. But while there was interest in Thornton on deadline day, it didn't come from the league's "elite" teams, according to TSN's Pierre LeBrun.
Spezza always has been and always will be a hot dog player. He's a poopty veteran for this team. Teaches them nothing they don't already know or can't already do themselves. - JohnFergusonJr

Yup, blame the goalie for the 2 on 1.
Typical. - JohnFergusonJr
If this is how you see the play, no wonder you never blame the goalie. You should watch other goalies direct rebounds not right to the other team some time. It might enlighten you.

It looked like a pretty good five hole save to me.

It was a close range hard shot going 5-hole. Not an easily directable shot. Stop acting like it was a soft flutter puck he just lazily put on a platter. It was a 2 on 1 and the D played it like complete poop, not to mention the mistakes that occurred to allow that chance in the first place.
