It’s the OT losses that piss me off. A loss is a loss and should not be worth half a win. They gotta make wins 3 points if they want to keep OT losses at 1 point.

Or only give the loser point if you make it to the shootout.

Definitely something that needs to be fixed with the new CBA.
- Bean_Dip

It won't be, Bettman has already talked about it. He loves the point system as is cause it creates more parity. More teams have a chance to still be in it at the end of the season.

I really think once Kreider stayed the team got that last jolt they needed, like ok here we go boys. The front office said ok we believe in you... ...that, and because we traded Skjei

Shesty really was the key to this all tho, you can pin point that moment when he came up vs Avs as the moment they took off. Oodles of confidence he gave the team

It doesnt have to be negotiated. Its on the Board of Governors I think

If a team with a losing record makes it over a team with a winning record though, I’m sure it’ll be a point of discussion. What’s the point of winning games if you can just lose in ot every game?

I also get that the point system is unfair at times, but every team going into the season knows how it is. If we had a couple of those loses we had go into OT, we'd be competing for the division. There's some fault to be had by the team for not carrying more games to OT.

True. Just thought that’s when that happens. I’m sure the players have an opinion on the matter too.

20 gms from yesterdays win, with maybe 4 gms left against teams out of P O hunt ,more away than home ( not that it matters ) ,I still expect to go 15 - 5 ?
13 -7 gets us 100 pts ?that is the worst if we level of some ,which might be realistic to start P O's . Health ,depth have been exposed ,Smith is playing solid good defense , missing the 2 from accident has given others the step up role & all have done it seamlessly ...cna t wait

well the truth with Columbus is that they haven't continued to win

1-4-5 in last 10

they are literally built on loser points

I agree, I would reward teams more for winning an actual 5 on 5 hockey game over 3 on 3 or a shootout. But the league loves it for some reason.

Early in the season I used to get on Quinn for not changing his system late in games to preserve at least a point and get to OT. Just hope in the end it doesn't come back to bite them, a few of those earlier loser points they missed out on

If the Rangers make the playoffs, Panarin should be a consideration for the Hart and Quinn for the Jack Adams. Fox has been playing amazing but he is older than Quinn and Makar. They would probably lean towards either of them if the points are the same.
- Brukie

Fox maybe older than Quinn and Makar, but both of them started last season after college or called up, this is Fox's first season so maybe my view is slanted because he is on my team I think that should give Fox the edge, and being on the youngest team is also telling.

Yeah, if we had just gotten like a few more points, we'd be a long shot for the division right now. I hate the idea of playing for OT, but in today's game you almost have to at times.

Fox is great, and we watch him on a daily basis, but Makar and Quinn, who we don't normally watch, are just as good and they have the edge in the numbers at this point and thats what it really boils down to.

Im just happy we traded two 2nd round picks for him, worth every penny!

At this point, you would have given up a first right? So far we have traded Carolina 2 2nds, Keane, and Skjei in return and gotten back Gaut, Fox, and a 1st. Gotta say we've won that exchange so far right?

Yeah, Fox is totally worth a 1st.

I think the trades stack up fairly. Probably all dependent on how Skjei does.
