Partially fair, though it's pretty well documented that their substance abuse accelerated considerably in Ottawa. Don't know if you ever went to Gracie's back in the pizza line days - these guys partied hard.
While the comment was intended to be partially tongue in cheek, Ottawa is also depressing as heck, and the way the franchise has been managed can't help these guys. Take it from an Ottawa boy who developed his own dependencies living in the city.

A lot of the guys you mentioned had long histories of mental health or personal/family issues, that they were quite open about. Once they got to Ottawa, they had more money, and were in the public eye.....I feel that they would have been the same or worse in pretty much any other market.
