lots of empty netters both ways this year. - Tumbleweed
The tighter the games get, the tougher it is for this team the way they are constructed and the way they play. |

I agree but he's still better than Ceci. Him sucking is a learning experience and the alternative will suck just as bad but has no future with the team.
Sandin is done with the AHL at this point. There's nothing left for him to do there. If it was Sandin vs. an All-Star, yeah, demote Sandin. Sandin vs. Ceci? (frank) Ceci. - JohnFergusonJr
he's not done with the ahl until he has nhl strength |

I'd drop Ceci before both of them. |

His strength has zero to do with what league he plays in. That's time spent in the gym. |

we'll see. they are playing better.
tampa scored all 3 goals they other night with sandin on the ice. 2 of 3 with liljegren.
if the leafs forwards keep up their play, there won't be easy goals like that when the defense is healthy. |

Huh?
Um no. As you get to be 22-23 years old is when you thicken up into a man’s mould. Sandin is actually still growing if you go by the generally accepted age break downs. |

strength only matters when it does.
he gets pushed off the puck way too easily on the boards. and he do anything at all useful against forwards in front of the net.
when he has man strength like dermott and proves he can box guys out in front of freddy, he'll be done with the ahl. |

The Leafs problem, aside from playing defense effectively, has been being able to "keep it up". They are wickedly inconsistent. It's almost a foregone conclusion that if they are playing amazing going into the playoffs, they'll get their asses kicked. Or if they limp into the playoffs, they'll play amazing in the playoffs. They are consistently inconsistent. |

Meanwhile, Lindros as 16 was NHL ready. Everybody grows and gets strong at different rates and ages.
But his strength has nothing to do with what league he plays in. If he plays in the AHL or the NHL, he's going to get stronger at the exact same rate. It's just a matter of gym time and nutrition.
The only argument for the AHL right now is to prevent injury because the players are a little smaller and slower on average but even that argument isn't a particularly strong one because the benefits of practicing and playing with NHLers at this point of his development outweighs the risks. |

something big had to happen to create change mid-season.
might of been the best thing for them to leave the ice with their tails between their legs against the canes.
they needed a massive wake up call to change.
3 games so far they have looked good. if they can play 12 or so games like this down the stetch, i'll buy in fully that they have changed.

he's been on the ice for 12 goals in the 7 last games.
at no point has even ceci had a terrible (frank)ing stretch like that.
his offense has dried up. not good when you are offensive dman.
he's a liability out there. |

He's 100% too weak and 100% bad at defending. There's no argument there.
But he's also 100% better than Ceci.
Had they not burned the year of his contract, yes, send him down. But they burned it already so play him. Whatever mistakes he makes will help him learn for the future. They're going to get scored on with Ceci on the ice just the same so they're better off giving Sandin the experience for the future. |

We are currently 9 points back.
We still have two games against them.
They play Boston twice this week.
Stamkos is out.
If you ignore the fact that they are really, really good and our goaltender is really, really bad, making up 9 points is doable!

Ok man Lindros was an anomaly... most kids aren’t like that so don’t use him to compare. Hell even Lindros was bigger and thicker by the time he was 23... and not in a way that can be accomplished by working out. I’m just saying there’s no way that kid has fully matured physically, and we all know it.
I’m not arguing with you about wether or not he’s the right choice for number 6, cause as it stands right now, he’s the right No. 6 and will remain so in my mind unless Ceci proves me wrong. And I’ve already accepted he is going to get his chance to do so. |

5 points is a huge lead with 16 games to go.
the leafs could limp Richard their way to an 8-6-2 finish for 96 points.
florida will have to go 11-4-1 to tie.
lucky that bottom 5 teams in the east suck ass. |

I think with 16 games left the odds are in the Leafa favor , you cant fault people for aspiring to gain home ice. |

It's time to work on your interviews.
Ebby Calvin LaLoosh:
My interviews? What do I gotta do?
Crash Davis:
You're gonna have to learn your clichés. You're gonna have to study them, you're gonna have to know them. They're your friends. Write this down: "We gotta play it one day at a time."
Ebby Calvin LaLoosh:
Got to play... it's pretty boring.

'Course it's boring, that's the point. Write it down. |
