Electrifying conversation in here. What a waste of the writers time.

Pass the poutine and a steamy please.

Who should make the team first, Caufield or Ylönen?

Ylönen, since he's the best skater in the world to have not played in the NHL yet

Listen, I get it. We don't talk Habs 24/7, string us up. We do talk Habs, though, sorry you have to find it amongst the weeds. But FFS, stop whining about it. It's not gonna change. We regulars have a kinship that goes beyond just hockey, so we talk about regular stuff too. Don't like it? TFB. Feel free to join in when you find something you're interested in talking about. We'll not turn you away. Hell, maybe try starting a conversation of your own. You've gotta come halfway, at least.

Well, the approach the team is going for at the moment with Caulfield is slow and steady, which I actually agree with. But, if he makes a strong statement at next seasons training camp, I'd say give him his 9 games, at least. Jesse seems to be ready to at least start in Laval, let's see how that goes first...he's probably more ready that CC to make the jump to the team full time; in what capacity, is unclear.

If Caufield stays in the NCAA, he won't be at training camp.

In the end it's up to Cole, I guess. I'd rather he "stay in school", and maybe get skills and education for life after hockey. Too many don't, and are lost when they're not in the show any more.

He's not staying there 4 years that's for sure.

I would not be against him playing in Laval if I was sure he'd play there the whole season, but I think it would be far too tempting for management to have him play in the NHL after having a summer where they will again fail to bring significant help.

Well the kid wanted to play in the NHL as soon as possible.

I can see him going to the AHL for sure.

It's the Habs I don't trust. They will feel they owe the fans a "nanane" after mostly icing the same lineup next season.

and if I understand correctly this would potentially bring him an NHL contract quicker

Basically, it's this:

If he's really coming here, he's signing an entry-level contract

If he plays 10+ games this season with the Habs, he burns a year of that contract

If he plays less than that, or just plays in the AHL, since he's 19, his contract slides one year, meaning the 3 years start next season.

he should help the Rocket win the Calder next year, helping other kids get a "winning mentality" and also become better, and then rip it up in the NHL

My only real worry is Gallagher. If there's even a ball hair of a chance he's not going to re-sign, then it's worth it to burn said year to let Cole play a year with Gally. There's just SO MUCH Cole could learn from a player of...similar stature. I'm not expecting Cole to be Gally 2.0, their play style isn't alike. But Gallagher can teach him how to best use his size (or lack thereof) to his advantage.

If they bring him in too early, the average fefan will go ballistic when Caufield doesn't score 40 goals and call him a bust.

Hell, it has already started.
