Ultimately this team refuses to shoot and get pucks to the net. They would rather skate around the perimeter and pass the puck looking for the perfect shot. They had an AHL goalie in net. They didn’t do enough to test the kid. Same olde crapola. - Cptmjl

It’s too bad the Isles gave up assets for a cup-run when they are clearly one of the worst teams in the Eastern Conference. They’re goaltending is not good and their blue line is also poor. |

He’s nothing unique just another ignorant poster on hockeybuzz. He’s actually a Sabre’s fan who is consistently critical of the Islanders if you could imagine that. |

Hey look there’s another one now. This guy is an even bigger turd. Their blue line is poor and one of the worst teams in the Eastern conference? This just proves you have not a clue. Great game by your awesome team last night btw. |

NHL Situation Room email states Svechnikov’s stick was above the crossbar but below his shoulders. Once puck hit the post and bounced out, it was a legal play — stick above the bar only stops play if puck goes directly in. - UIF

That's a weird angle as the picture is taken from above. You would have to be eye level with the play. |

I would’ve liked if they called up bellows and sat brassard or MDC. I hate Ladd maybe more than anyone on here but I thought he played a good game. For someone who probably stuck up for MDC more than anyone on here I have a hard time seeing the love affair Trotz has with the kid. He doesn’t bring enough to this line up that can’t score to warrant his spot IMO. I don’t see him as this defensive stalwart that some people say. He turned over the puck multiple times today either with a horrible thought out pass or turning it over in the neutral zone. We can’t score call up someone who shoots. - Cptmjl
Ladd is sssllllooooooowww out there, but he can still throw some solid hits. He was basically a more effective Matt Martin yesterday than Matt Martin was.
I agree about Bellows. I don't think he's a savior or anything like that, but he does shoot the puck from everywhere in the offensive zone, and that's what this team's not doing enough of, even when they're able to get a forecheck going. Having someone you know is going to shoot every chance he gets would probably force other players to go toward the net looking for rebounds rather than hanging on the perimeter looking to make and receive perfect passes. Just one garbage goal from some chaos in front sometime over the last two games would have translated to an extra point banked. |

There's what looks like a screen a shot floating around the net from behind the net and lower down which makes it look a lot closer. Saw it yesterday. Can't find it now. Bottom line is they should never have been in that situation in the first place. |

I would play Ross over Martin at this point and I agree on Bellows. Isles have too many of the same type of forwards. You see other teams playing against the Isles, they are shooting from different angles and crashing the net and are getting rewarded. It's not teams scoring these amazing beautiful goals against the Isles. |

This is the thing. We can blame the Refs but the Isles lousy offense is putting themselves in these positions to lose these games. The leave themselves no room for error. |

Yeah. Just poor decision making of the players. Hard to say if it's inexperience. The team can only make so many in a game.

This is not a young team so it's not inexperience. This team is not getting PP's because they are not shooting the puck enough and driving the net looking for cheap goals. You play the right way you get rewarded with PP's and goals. |

I thought they were the better team in the 2nd and 3rd. PK was 1 for 6 obviously the OT goal was a PP goal. The Isles were 0-3 on the PP and Barzal’s double minor was the nail. |

They are just not working hard and smart enough 7. Isles will continue to struggle to score as long as they stay on the outside and take few shots with little traffic. |

Yep, a lot of goals against started on plays made from the worst angles or from weak wrist shots up high. You keep hearing about the bad luck and unfortunate bounces on those goals, and, yeah, that's true to a point, but those bounces only happen in the first place because teams just get the puck toward the net any way they can and create a little chaos.
I don't mind the Isles' "quality over quantity" approach when the team's firing on all cylinders and they're making plays quickly, but at times like these when players are overthinking things already because they're in a bit of a slump, it gets way too methodical, and ultimately sloppy. It might help to simplify things more, and maybe it wouldn't hurt to dress a player with a mindset of "shoot first, think never" to nudge them in that direction. |

Guys, last year Trotz came in and laid down his system, team first mentality. The players had to buy in or be held accountable. I remember a game we lost at Tampa where Tyler Johnson scored with 1:26 left in regulation of a tied game because Eberle had left the zone to early thinking the puck would follow and TB netted the game winner. Trotz was not to happy with Ebs selfish mindset and literally let him have it on the post game. Where has that side of Trotz gone? How many players on this team are playing with team first mentality lately...? Islanders has success last year and early on this year because they were playing the system to the perfection. Pucks were not staying in our zone cause the defence had options. Trotz has to pass a message and sit the guys who don’t play the Islanders brand of hockey...plain and simple. Even Barzal and his stupid late game lazy ass penalties have to stop! If he has to sit and watch to learn, so be it! |

I think they're working hard enough...but maybe not smart enough. I'd have a hard time believing that the problem on the team is too many guys just looking to mail it in at this point in the season...or that Trotz would stand for it if that was the case. I just think the doubt that's crept into their game is a killer. |

I think a player like Lee is working hard. Bailey no way. Nelson also I do not think is working hard enough. I think it's a combo of both honestly UIF. |

This. They’re overthinking what they’re doing. All teams go through stretches like this throughout the season but with that said ours is getting to be a little too long at this point. I still say they’ll straighten themselves out and go in strong to the playoffs imo. If they don’t whatever. I took the shrink wrap off the boat I don’t need to be watching hockey games anyway😂 |
