I see the Leaf trolls are back on our Boards.... although with Carolina only 1 win from sending them home before the first round this year I am guessing they will not be on here for very long.
Barzal offer sheet is just stupid. He even laughs at it when asked... all that would do is alleviate Lou from a long negotiation. He is an RFA .. not going anywhere. - niteislander

It is frustrating for talented players to have to sacrifice offensive stats. it'll cost him millions. - RogerRoeper
Maybe we should just play a fantastic offensive style like the Leafs and pay our top 4 forwards $40 mill... seems to work so well for u guys. |

Go to the Leafs thread and do it. Normally I find trolls funny. He’s so (frank)ing stupid he’s not funny. |

That's disgusting...
u read Staple article on athletic? I thought Sorokin was no longer in ELC territory this summer.
https://theathletic.com/1...ot/?source=shared-article
"It’s unlikely to happen in enough time for Ilya Sorokin to burn that first year of his entry-level deal, since the prized goalie prospect just posted two shutouts in a four-game first-round sweep by CSKA in the KHL playoffs. By the time his team is finished, the Islanders may be too. Even at that, Sorokin can sign a one-year ELC with Schedule A bonuses that will make his coming over for next season worth his while." |

"Thomas Greiss had a .934 even-strength save percentage through the 16-3-2 start. Since? He’s at .907, 46th of 55 goalies with 15 or more appearances since Nov. 25."

It would be for just 1 year instead of the usual 3, So if he comes over after the season this year and signs he'll burn the one year and be a RFA this summer I believe |

You do realize that your GM is sinking 29 million into Nelson, Lee, Varlamov, Pageau, Eberle for the next 4 years, right? And that's not including horrific deals to Komorov and Cezerkis the next 2 years (6.5 million)
Islander fans are the last ones that should be mentioning Leaf superstars making 40 million.
Lou has committed 71 million to THAT roster next year without 3 prominant RFAs signed. Islanders are in cap hell with a bad roster.
There is not a person alive that would take the Islanders roster over the Leafs or cap situation.
In a cap world, never, ever overpay for aging supporting talent. those deals are close to impossible to move. On the flip side, Gms will line-up for the likes of Marner and Nylander.. |

Pageau getting 5 million is fine. But Nylander getting 6.9? Ridiculous! |

Islanders have never been in "cap Hell".. ever.. nor will they be this summer. Those are the same guys you said we would not sign last year.. fyi (Brock, Eberle, Lee.. all signed for less then they would have gotten elsewhere..). Enjoy the rest of the Season as your $40 million Non-2 Way players just miss the playoffs... or squeak in and lose in first round... again. |

You don't get it. Marner and Matthews are young 22 year-old superstars and players you can move at any time. They are only signed in their prime years.
The "Core" Lou has locked-up have likely all past their "Prime years" and have years left on their deals till their mid 30's. Building around Lee, Nelson, Eberle is bad. They aren't getting better and still are not differece-makers.
BTW, Matthews is a 2-way player. 3rd in NHL in takeaways. He's a beast.
71 million committed to a team full of aging, overpaid bottom 6 talent. Enjoy.
Lou is leading you down a bad path. That Pageau deal was horrible.
I notice fans like to say "Two-way" when their players just aren't that good. Lee and Nelson are very "Meh" players to rely on. They'd be no better than 5th best forward on the Leafs. |
