How could they not play this way all year? Good forcheck and play smart in your own end. Defence is the easiest thing to teach. They’ve work their ass off to get back and commit to defence

Because poop happens, and unfortunately guys get frustrated with time and play, a link weakens and you end up being behind in a game which affects mentality all around. Sometimes you have a bad beat and get scored on early which affects gameplay. Bad penalties which happen by accident on purpose, mess up momentum. Every game is different. Their game plan just happened to work out well vs what the Blues were doing, however its not universal.

Such a wasted effort, and once again not getting a loser point will be the reason they don’t make the playoffs

Why is Strome even taking faceoffs?

This is a game where we actually kept the shot count down. You can blame george for that awful goal and kakko just cant finish. He needs to work on skating and decision making this offseason

O'reilly is a beast in the circle. That was a frustrating way to lose after a very strong effort. Especially to lose on a weak goal. Those cross ice passes kept getting picked off in the third

Weve been eating that turd for a few years now. Its no secret the Rangers faceoff woes have been crippling when they need it most.

This was a great article. I know it's paywalled but for those who have a subscription it's worth a read. Essentially the reasons they give for Kakko's struggles (backed up by some good video breakdown) is that he doesn't have that next gear of speed to get by defenders. This is mostly because of an inefficient stride. He also has an incredibly low shooting percentage which is unsustainable. On the bright side, his puck possession for a 18/19 year old is close to unmatched and he's still seeing the ice well and is starting to make better decisions with the puck. I'd imagine a full offseason with an NHL skating coach can help fix that stride and give him that extra step. The good news is this kid will be a ranger for the next 10+ years so we have plenty of time to watch him become a star

Ive said all year hes overrated. People turn a blind eye because of stats, but anyone can do that playing with Panarin. Id like for the Rangers to dump Strome and maybe pursue Granlund in the offseason. Then put Kakko on that line.

Yeah that's the only hopeful part. Do we have any more games with Columbus? I know we're finished with canes and isles
