Remember the "we choked" speech?

Canucks should just roll this out at the end of every season to help remind fans that we can't have nice things. Not allowed.

Look at them. I'm calling it 'canuck-face'.

50 years. That's a long and proud history of inventing new ways to choke.

They've never spent the time and effort at the draft table. It's that simple. The one time they did, Sedin era, they had success but couldn't ultimately sustain it over a long period of time because Gillis couldn't draft well from poor positions. Unlike a team like the Capitals who could and they've been good for a very long time.

Burkie in the background looks pretty fit.

Well finally we don't have a Swedish meatball as a captain......If Horvat can't captain this team to a better result I'll drink Aquavit for the whole summer. Personally I think it matters to have a Captain that can get ultra fired up to will this team to a better result. No more stoic grace and piety - time to get crazy.

Hate to say this but Bo ain't going to be the guy who gets fired up and goes crazy. He might as well be a swede.

Edit: look at Trent Klatt in the image... can't even look up.

Great more confusion now. Combine that with not touching the puck and we are in for some lengthy beer fridge trips while center of the universe control room throws darts at the answers.

how that guy even got another job with the Canucks is beyond me. He should be banished for life for missing "the shot"

I was all for the Bo as captain choice... but he's not looking like captain material on the ice. Off the ice all fine and great with the community and media. But I don't think I've seen him completely alter a game through sheer will and determination like you'd want a captain to.

just curious as to why you think this will be MORE confusing?

Camera's won't have to worry so much about whether or not a player's skate is on the ice or touching anymore, it will be more black and white from the camera angles if a player is offside IMO.

That 2003 team was top heavy with mediocre goaltending, Henrik and Daniel were only 21 and couldn't provide enough secondary scoring to help the top line out. Jovo was killer on defence with 7 goals in 14 games but that couldn't make up the deficit.

Same could be said for 2011 too I guess, Kesler was an excellent second line option but they had no wingers to play with him.

We're always just missing something #50years

I'm agreeing, but also have to point out that Loui on the wing is a major deflator. Like a negative force sucking away extra positive momemtum and vibes.

Surely it is just so terrible! Most of us have played with "that guy" who is there but shouldn't be: "just help him out a bit"......"help him with his confidence"....but he gets paid more and can't bury his chances EVER.
I think you put Toffoli with Pearson that line gets really good immediately. Then you try Motte (who is scoring a few goals and getting some looks these days) with Pettersen and JT or I guess if you have no imagination JV again. or go with Big Mac even

The angles always seem to be strange. I don't think every rink has a camera right on the blue line on both side? Maybe I am wrong....

Ya, we've all played with a guy like that. But the difference should be Bo making LE look way better, or at least not letting him drag him down when he puts the team on his back. That ain't happening.

I like Bo Horvat but he's not good enough to carry a weaklink linemate.

Hate the proposed change. Now you're hoping that a linesman is right on the line with an unobstructed view to make the right call. With the skate on the ice, they had a better chance of seeing from an angle if someone entered the zone or not

The problem wasn't the rule, it was how fractional the video reviews became

Funny that Pettersson, a Swede, has the most fire in him out of everyone. Probably will get named captain once they trade Horvat

I fully agree with you - Horvat doesn't have that high end talent. But neither did Dave Andreychuk or Dustin Brown out of LA. (and I am loathe to give a King credit....)

I like the current age-gap of the core now more than say 2003, it's more like the 1994 team with Pettersson being 22 next season, Horvat 25, Boeser 23, Hughes 21, Miller 27, Virtanen 24, Gaudette 24....keep building on that.

You need two solid lines to be really competitive...???

Miller Pettersson Boeser
Pearson Horvat Toffoli
