8.5 wins to 94 pts
The pursuit continues.
Again from the last blog, bring on the “ Battle of Alberta”
It’s been so long since I’ve watched such a hated rivalry. |

Gotta wonder what mangiapane’s next contract will look like. He’s a key piece to our offence, but we could negotiate on the premise that he was a 4th liner last year and is still under .5 points per game this year. I personally would like him for around 2.5 per year for 3. But I also believe his value could be as high as 3.25 for the same term. |

With the cap moving up and the fact that he vastly has outperformed Bennett, 2.5 would be a very low deal for the guy right now - a (good) agent will rely on the fact that he's proven to be a key cog when playing in the right spot in the lineup and will try to project his performance based on the role he's now playing (effectively).
My bet is that you're closer to 3.5 or 4 for the guy, 4.5 if you want to go longer term. |

He might a player the Flames make a longer term bet on. I think you're about right with 2.5 but maybe for 2 years. What would a 5 year deal look like ? $4mil x 5 years or something like that would be a good risk. |

i think a BOA would be amazing to watch- at the same time going against the top player in the world would be quite scary in a 7 game series. |

I think it will be caparable to Bennett’s. Yes Mang has out performed Sammy in scoring but he’s also been given a longer stint in the top 6 than SB. Bennett brings a different element to the team, don’t get me wrong am is the better all around player but I still feel SB has been shortchanged.
We better not be giving him a 4 mil contract based on 1 year of success. Tre gambled and held his ground this year, Mangiapane still an RFA. |

The way Backlunds line has been playing they’d match up pretty good against Mc D problem is Drai, Yam, Flopkins line has been amazing. Would have to have a minter series from the 3rd and 4th lines to take care of them. |

My thought exactly! I watched LD play for the Rockets that one season. He was good but never thought this good.
Regardless I still want the BOA!! |

Don't disagree - notionally - though I think AM has earned more time in the top 6 than Benny ever did, and, yeah, Tre held his ground, but he also basically told Mangy to go prove himself in the offseason and he's done that...
That said, Tre holds the RFA stick, so he might say to the kid "Go do it again and show us 2020 wasn't an aberration". But if he truly thinks he's long term top 6 material, he'll get a bigger deal than you might think. |

Brandon Manning - special assistant to the equipment manager and the Flames Emergency Backup Goalie designate for the playoffs.
Just picture it - game 1, Flames down 2-1 when both Rittich and Talbot go down to mysterious injury - in comes Manning and he pulls a Gibson:

Not debating weather he’s a better player for the top 6 just saying imo Bennett has never had the same opportunity in the top 6. He may be what he is a bottom 6 player. We have to remember AM took a long time last year to get his feet under him and it wasn’t til he was put with Ryan that he eventually found his way. He’s having a great season but 1 season shouldn’t get him 4/. I think 2.5-3 might be more reasonable. |

If we’re gonna see the BOA, let’s make it legendary and have it served on a western conference finals platter...😉 |

Anyone read the article on tsn about the new puck with a chip that will be introduced during the playoffs. Maybe it will be able to track if the puck crossed the goal line. That way for example a team won't be cheated out of a Stanley Cup in game 6....... |

Hopefully it doesn’t change the action of the puck since we’ll be going into the playoffs. |
