I think 96 will be required - 1970vintage
I don't think with the inconsistency that the Pacific teams have shown that 96 is the number I think 92 will be the number. Just as Calgary has won a few recently they will slump again just as Vancouver is going to go on a streak again. Arizona has been in tough I just see too much inconsistent play from all of the teams below Vegas to believe that 96 pts is the number at this time. |

Regardless of what people think you are, the team was 1st place in their division with less than 30 games remaining, games in hand over their direct competition, amounting to an 85% chance of making the playoffs.
They haven't choked, but they are quickly choking away their playoff spot. I'm calling it a choke not because of the loses. It's their attitude during this losing skid. Most look completely disinterested. - bloatedmosquito
Agree there.
Hard to say where we would be if Marky was healthy but there was no guarantees there either. Lots of disappointments.

Carol Schram: Canucks flirting with danger as they drop season-high 4th-straight game
As the playoff race heats up in earnest, the Vancouver Canucks lost their fourth-straight game when the failed to protect a third-period lead against the Arizona Coyotes at home on Wednesday. - Carol Schram
Thanks Carol -- appreciate your perspectives! It's tough sledding to blog when the team is skidding and at risk of falling out of contention. They have been consistently outshot, bailed out by great play by Markstrom, weakened by injuries (like many teams...not an excuse) and just completely lost in the defensive zone for several months now, so it had to catch up with them eventually.
We've seen progress this season and I'm still hoping they do get a taste of playoff experience for the younger players. Like a number of posters here, I'm also hoping that they take the necessary step of shipping out some of the bottom six, though I see their style/system (or consistency of execution) as more of problem.
QH for Calder? I don't think any team in the modern era has had back-to-back rookie of the year players?? I had to go back to Bobby Orr (66-67) and Derek Sanderson (67-68) to find a comparable duo on a single team. |

I think Stetcher needs to get benched. Last game was due to his massive mistake. JV also needs to be starting on the 2nd line. no more of this LE starts each period with Bo and then moves to 4th line after 1 shift. Anyone else noticing that recently? - Retinalz
I agree and I hoped he is benched for the Habs |
