So is the league going to put things on pause today? End the season today? Let everyone play to 72 games?
Based on points percentage the Canucks are in the playoffs |

When would playoffs start? Maybe July through until September.
Players will get rusty awful quick if there is any length to a postponement. |

If the season is suspended (as they should), there was speculation that it would be 24 teams, and as you say based on points percentage.
So that would be top 3 in each division. |

It's hard to imagine the season resuming after a postponement. I don't think this is over in 2-3 weeks. |

I would like to see it go on but hear me out.
Play to empty buildings that have the broadcast crew only . Screen everyone to see if anyone tests positive. For now anyways.
I think sports and entertainment are going to be a very big part of getting things back to normal.
To me broadcasting a game with 100 tested people is no more dangerous than walking into Safeway and pushing around a infected cart , or taking the bus and holding onto an infected rail.
If the virus is that deadly then shut down everything and keep people inside for the next three weeks. |

It's good that precautions are being taken and all but don't do it so gary can put an * beside the Cup champs or whatever. Shut the league down for a month if needed then continue on as planned. So what if the Cup final is in July. Play it out. |

I think it is noble that they have everyone's interest but is it futile?
I have to go to my walk in clinic this morning to get my prescription refilled. I have a dentist appointment on Saturday morning.
My choice today do I go to a clinic of sick people or do I risk going the next month without blood pressure pills? The clinic if infected has already passed it on to spouses and families that have rode the bus and visited public food markets and eateries.
The only real way to stop it from speading is by having a country lock down otherwise every single time you step outside and ride a taxi or open a door you are at risk. |

The issue is if and when a player or a person associated with a team tests positive. That entire team and probably the team that last played against that player will have to go into voluntary isolation for 2 weeks.
That throws the whole league schedule off and will effectively force the league to shut down because at least one team won't be allowed to play.
Take the NBA for example. They didn't shut down over fears, they shut down because a player tested positive. That team and now the team that they recently played (the Raptors) are in 14 day isolation.
Two weeks at this time of year with 2 teams unable to play effectively shuts down the entire league.
Either the league shuts down for a while or it will be forced to. If they are proactive about it, they'll have a better chance of preparing to re-start.
If they wait until they're forced to, it'll make the re-start that much more difficult. |

Again I think it is noble that they are being proactive . Now on the way home Bo wife opens the front door to his condo that was just touched by the infected mailman .
Jake walks into a bar and is talking to an infected female.
Hockey players children still go to school and they come home with it.
Unless there is a city lock down the athletes and public still have as much chance as catching the virus
