i think you're absolutely right.
i'd add that most of the people who can afford the medical care are in the west where (i believe) infection rates have decreased the last couple of decades.
in poorer countries, i think the rates have increased and they don't have the means to deal with the cost of on-going medical care.
so bottom line is that (without doing extensive research) i would guess that death rates have decreased for us in the west but have gone up elsewhere as infection rates have increased. - RealityChecker
Yup...that’d be accurate imo. |

But...but...Trudope's Health Minister came out yesterday claiming a 30-70% infection rate for the sheeple...when in all reality if you aren't travelling in North America right now there is a 0.000322% infection rate. But hey, for a virus that was identified in the mid 1960's we really don't need to worry about the other things that kill thousands everyday lol |

Responding to him only continues to give him a platform to spew his lies and mocking.
On another note, I love how much Trudeau (who I can't stand) gets under the skin of conservatives and yellow vest racists. |

Italy’s agony grows. The number of deaths from #coronavirus there has risen to 1,266 - an increase of 250 in a day. The 25% spike is the largest rise yet, says the Civil Protection Agency. The total number of cases in #Italy has jumped by nearly 20% from 15,113 to 17,660.

I read they’re second to China in number of cases, doesn’t surprise me. |

but you can stupidity which is why lies and misinformation should be challenged.
this is for the US but let's not try to think that it's going to be much better for us.
Congress' in-house doctor told Capitol Hill staffers at a close-door meeting this week that he expects 70-150 million people in the U.S. — roughly a third of the country — to contract the coronavirus, two sources briefed on the meeting tell Axios.
https://www.axios.com/con...bc-8340-c53b65c22c53.html
One model from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) suggested that between 160 million and 210 million Americans could contract the disease over as long as a year.
The models are meant to project how a virus spreads around the world, including assumptions for both best- and worst-case scenarios. Those worst-case scenarios assume societies take no action against the virus — and in some cases the eye-popping numbers can spur a community to action, said Tom Frieden, the former director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention who now runs Resolve to Save Lives.

I love the United States of America but man their system is so broken down there, it’s filled with self serving idealists, the gap between the haves and have nots is deplorable. |

and it's getting worse. the polarization in politics combined with the anti-science movement for the last couple of decades exacerbates the issue.

Looking at EK’s “all-time” list’s, the best two centers that’ve ever played for the Canucks in 50 years is probably H. Sedin and Trevor Linden, when you compare that to other long standing franchise’s it’s truly shameful |

Yeah, I was shocked to find out that death is the number one killer of humans worldwide. This has been going on since the beginning of time, yet there's still no cure....sad really. |

They have almost 300 cases per million confirmed which is crazy. Many believe, and this depends on the region, that the actual true cases which are unreported are currently 5 to 17 times the confirmed cases.
Very thankful BC is testing on mass and China just sent massive amount of tests and equipment to both Italy and the USA. China, amazing is doing incredible work sharing their data despite some of their officials claiming the American military planted the virus in China.
Here is a pretty good link for keeping track of the spread.

The divide between the two party faithful, Dem’s vs Republican, is the worst I’ve ever seen it. It runs everything in their society. When we’re in Scottsdale though, it doesn’t come up much in daily life, but if you sit down and it comes up, we just say nothing as we don’t really have a pawn in the game. |

I'm (frank)ed, but not as (frank)ed as a whole lot of other people.
The US is the perfect storm for an outbreak: no health coverage or high cost means people won't go, and for people with no savings or who live paycheck-to-paycheck means they can't miss work. It's just going to snowball. |

Our property value down there would be the only thing that would truly affect us on a personal level, but, the American people feel it everyday in all walks of life. Because we’re older now our investment portfolio is setup to be very modest in terms of growth. When you get a huge waterfall decline as we’ve seen here recently in the market’s we’re set up to not feel it as much as a growth portfolio would. But we still feel it. |

i hear what you're saying. i'm not affected in that i'm able to work from home. all my investments (retirement/stocks/home value) are long term investments.
it's only a loss if you're looking to sell short term. i think the markets bounce back as there will be an end to this. i've got lots of years before i need to worry about the economic aspects of this but i understand people who will struggle right away.
aside from the economic aspects, i still think that we're affected by american politics. whether it is military security to economic security to how the world is run: if the US sneezes the world catches a cold. |

you don’t love the US. You love a version of the US only available to a privileged few. The gated private golf course community is not the true reflection of America. There are parts of that country you wouldn’t step foot in. If you did, you and your family wouldn’t be alive for long. |
