Yes, the flu has killed more people because it's been around longer and infects more people. If Corona infects as many people, you'll see a staggering amount more deaths. Add to that we have no vaccine for Corona, and it's rapidly spreading while we don't know much about it, you can see the sense of alarm.

I'm surprised any of the medical community are commenting on death rates when they still have no idea how many people have it. My understanding is that the 100k confirmed cases most likely underestimating the actual number of infected. It seems pretty agreed that the majority of cases have mild symptoms and there are likely many more unreported cases.

I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that a million people have it.
