When a corrupt idiot like Trump can not only get elected, but stay in office and maintain support with his base in spite of everything he's said and done, democracy has pretty much run its course. Time for some new ideas. - YeOldTimer
Idiocracy. Next up, President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho! |

He’s old af and eats macd’s everyday, pretty sure he’s more susceptible. His initial reaction was his using his own brain, the rest is people sending him to his room so they can make the big decisions |

The movie shouldn’t be cited, eugenics is not a relevant forecast. |

All the government needs to do is announce they have a plan for grocery stores to remain open and essential services to continue to be provided in the event of a total shut down, and the panic-hoarding would slow down dramatically.
But we have politicians instead of leaders, so they are incapable of dealing with anything like this. - YeOldTimer
Trump had some owners of big food stores with him today. I think they like the panic buying they are making billions |

I didn't even need to open that up and knew exactly it would be them. Seen that on Twitter.
I wish people would band together and refuse to buy from them and leave them stuck with boatloads of product. |

Yup.
And stores should enforce limits on stuff.
This is moving from stupid to ridiculous. |

NEW TESTING NUMBERS IN B.C.
- 6,326 people tested (approximately one out of every 800 people in the province, one of the highest ratios in the world)
- 53 confirmed cases (meaning less than 1% of people tested have been positive)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I would think this is positive news |

I have said that a few times to friends about putting a limit but the panic buying is spreading.
No Purell, buy soap no soap , no soap buy dish soap,
No TP ,buy Kleenex , no Kleenex buy paper towels.
Owners of stores are selling off all stock. Batteries ,water of all kinds , meats , noodles , canned food . Owners are making a killing.

Grocery stores will still sell out even if they put limits on products. I don't understand the mentality of these people buying months and months of supplies. Sure stock up a little if you want but be reasonable.
This really shows the sh!t show that will come when a real emergency comes. What will it be like if a true physical life and death emergency happens? |

There are a lot of larger emergencies society may face, but this is still a real emergency, and is life and death for a portion of the population. Don't minimize that aspect.
But yes, people should not be capitalizing on this, it's absurd and should be illegal. |

I didn't mean it in that way but I take your point. I didn't know how to phrase it better and was lazy. |

I attended a town hall today, had some very smart people give some super insightful information, both much scarier than I thought, and not as scary as I thought. I'll post when I get home |

No, we’ve de-consolidated so I’m with FHA now.
We are $9M underspent in Capital funding promises and Finance is panicking. No matter where you turn there’s panic.
This is such a busy time... TBH it’s been a good distraction.

Definitely positive news, crazy that BC has tested almost as many people as the US. The situation in the US is very concerning, I didn't think I'd ever say this but I hope Trump is right. |

So everything I say is just echoed from clinicians, directors, leads for infection control, occupational health and safety, disease control, etc. This information is only pertaining to canada, and more specifically the province of BC obviously.
These people, collectively, arent shy in saying this is scary. They have been through Ebola, been through sars, and this transmits so much faster, higher than those, it's hard to comprehend. The hardest part about this virus is that you can be Asymptomatic for 2-3 weeks, have the virus, be a carrier, and transmit to others unknowingly. That in itself is quite scary. The good thing about the transition is that it's not as transmittable as people are afraid of. Close proximity for extended periods of time through droplet are how you get it. Getting on a bus and not sitting directly next to that person, you are extremely unlikely to contract. Washing hands, sanitizing, and avoiding crowds are the only things you can do to prevent.
Now, for what stood out for the most. They started this part with "it's a marathon and not a sprint people, so remember that always". This wont be leaving canada soon, and by soon I mean we should expect to fight this for the next couple years even. The sobering statistic that was told today was, it isnt out of the realm of possibility that 30-75% of canadians contract a varying form of covid-19 over the next two years. That, is, scary.
The covid-19 test kits are currently prioritized for nurses, doctors and elderly and if you're feeling symptomatic, it's best to self quarantine for 14 days rather than risk exposure to others seeking testing.
I'll probably add to this as I'm sure I've forgotten some things |
