I think you spent a bit too much time with the people that spout off about things they want to believe and not what others are telling them.
I haven't seen ANYONE in here say there isn't a virus out there.
The severity of how they handle the virus is another story. Clearly some are much more worried about it than others. It's could be a life or death matter for some. Just like some worry much more about draft picks than others, which is not a life or death matter but we are canucks fans and it's damn close for some.
You're never going to find a clear consensus on this if that is what you are after.
Also, you going out and not having your wife and children go out does not mean that you won't get it and give it to them.
Less people moving around the less likely avenues it has though.

Trump finally figured out how to get them to pay for building the wall.
Maybe there's some truth to this American-planted virus conspiracy after all.
LeBrun’s Latest: COVID-19 Tests, Potential Schedules, Drop-Dead Date
MARCH 15, 2020 AT 2:30 PM CDT | BY HOLGER STOLZENBERG 5 COMMENTS
So far, there have been no cases of COVID-19 among players yet, although many players have been tested recently and the league still hasn’t gotten those results back. There is a general assumption that some players will eventually test positive. While only a small percentage of the league has been tested, many more players are slowly getting tested, which means how those tests come out will play a big part in both how the league handles letting players enter team facilities and skating or working out in small groups. Sportsnet’s Chris Johnston reports that NHL teams have been told that it will be a full week, if not longer, before they can open their facilities for players.
LeBrun also notes that when things look to be improving (and that might be a while), the NHL expects there to be a mini-camp for teams before play resumes. How the league continues after that depends on the timing of the crisis. If the league gets back into action in 30 days, then there likely will be time to finish out the regular season. A longer suspension of the season would likely result in different scenarios, which could include a cancellation of the regular season and an extended playoff as well. However, the league hasn’t even begun to discuss scenarios.
Perhaps the worry that most have is whether the league has a drop-dead date in which the league would shut down for the season. The league has watched many other leagues, including most European leagues as well as the ECHL, cancel their seasons, but the league has already asked teams for their building availability through July. That would suggest that the league is ready to continue the playoffs into July.
However, LeBrun believes that commissioner Gary Bettman has a drop-dead date in mind if things get out of hand. Any later in July would create other issues, which include what will happen with the 2002 Olympic Games. If the Olympics continue in August, then the NHL must decide whether they want to put their playoffs up against that. Regardless, the belief is that a decision on the season will be made by the end of April.
In the void of sports TSN tomorrow is having Canucks Clay on as a guest. As much as this is must listen too talk radio I am going to go out on a limb and say we have reached the end of the internet.

I have a full understanding of how pandemics work.
The reason, for 1 person going out vs 4 is it's easier to track where you may have spread it and got it from. It also does lessen the chances of acquiring it and spreading it because it places boundaries. I'm sure you knew this though.
Deadly viruses aren't like draft picks, one is leisure and the other is life.
The whole point is to remain ahead of the curve. It's better to be proactive than reactive.
This virus is one that spreads more quickly than anything i've either experienced or read about before. It's in the nature of how contagious it is during it's incubation period where no symptoms are shown. It's not a big deal when a country such as ours is only dealing with a few thousand cases, it's a big deal when it can't be contained as exponential growth will overload our already overloaded health care system.
Again, I don't pretend to be a medical official. I'm just a person of above average intelligence that drives trains. That said, anyone trying to downplay the severity of this virus is an idiot......plain and simple. Seeing as how idiots tend to naturally cling to other idiots ideas, this isn't really an issue to fence sit on.

It's worse than being an anti-vaccer, at least they're concerned about what's being injected into them. In this case, it's just not taking basic precautions to lessen the chances of acquiring and spreading a virus that if not contained will kill up to 5% or more of the population.
