you working remotely yet? We are still being asked to come in, don't think IMIT is able to set us all up remotely at once. - Codes1087
Yes and no. I’m in Capital Projects so we do things like OR renovations, elevator replacements, ambulatory care centre upgrades, etc, etc. These project are tied directly to government spending cycles. They’ve told us to keep going as usual but try and keep off sites as much as possible.
I don’t swing the hammer myself so can do most of the project management over the phone. The poor contractors are really nervous. They are mostly young guys who aren’t well informed and freaked out.
Luckily our infection control standards for construction are already pretty stringent.
How about you? You already answered this...
Can you take time off? |

There is a nasty rumour going around that they close tomororw. I have 75 beers, 20 bottles of wine, two bottles of mezcal, 3 bottles of patron, 3 bottles of vodka and around ten bottles of scotch. I feel unprepared. Some office are talking about folks working from home for at minimum 90 days - CanuckDon
That’s a pretty good stock, but what are you going to do by Friday? |

Which department? ER?
Most hospitals are desperately trying to keep the infected out and treated off site. It’s a real battle. |

it wrecks me to think that some of these people will lose their lives trying to save others. Damn right about OoC. |

We’ve got about 50000 litres that we were going to bottle next week and almost a thousand barrels of red. I won’t have to go dry. I’d share the wealth if I could. |

Its year end to boot, but I do the purchase orders for facility projects and capital projects and it's all covid 19 orders, I dont think I could book off time if I wanted. It's absolutely bonkers at work right now.

The 18 reds are killer and the 19 Whites are really good as well. Hopefully we can get the rose into bottle before it turns orange.
Compared to the hardships that most are about to go through we’re really lucky up here.
When all of this blows over, I’ll provide the wine for the annual HB picnic.
To all my fellow posters: be smart, be safe, be patient, and I’ll see you all on the other side of this.

Yeah, I thought we would be protected to a degree on the Island, physical barrier and all. Like the Okanagan. But the number of cases more than doubled today (still not a large number). We just closed for two weeks (at a minimum). Hopefully it doesn’t take too long to get people back out and about once this calms down. |

We might start slowly bouncing back by the fall. If all goes well, but the quotient of f*cktards in society is quite alarming. |

Oof
James mirtle "multiple sens players experiencing symptoms and going for testing, many were with an NBA team the day before the NHL announced shutdown"
Why is it so (frank)ing hard for people to police themselves and self isolate when we are in a pandemic. My god |

It’s like a bad driver. You remember the A-hole that cuts you off and then goes 30 km/hr, but you don’t remember the 20 drivers that were just fine. I think negative experiences can make a stronger impact than positive ones (or maybe I’m just saying something unfortunate about myself)(explains Trump though).
All of the knobs are getting all of the attention right now, but I think that most people are being pretty damn responsible. It’s early, and as bad as things seem there’s still plenty of room to go south, so long term who knows what will happen, but so far I think that we’re doing pretty good. |

Well my life is about to get poopter, I sent all my staff home as per federal government guidelines, I'm deemed essential service. We had an incidence on the Fraser River of critical importance, I was on the 1st ferry, never left my vehicle. Stopped in Ladner to grab something from the deli for lunch, stopped at Starbucks for a Americano coffee. Met the boat and crew and investigated the incident, at 6pm realized I wasn't going to make it on the 9 ferry so grabbed socks, underwear, toothbrush etc at a Walmart close by. Wrapped up my investigation at 8:30.
All day long I could feel myself getting a sore throat, I'm stuffed right up, nose won't stop running, headache, swallow the wrong way and I go into a coughing fit, all this in less than 24 hour timeline.
Guess who's going to be put into self quarantine, this is probably just a cold, but there are no distinctions until tested for Covid. Just talked to my wife and she feels great, good thing I have extra room at home to stay away from everyone . |

I liked Ye old Timers comments yesterday of "Competition drives the level of the game"
Gretz and everyone else had access to exercise room and weights but never used them. One of the few players to take advantage of them was Messier. He was built like brick sh1thouse. PEDs might have helped too.
Bobby Orr had 9 great years in the NHL starting in 1966 , one year before expansion. The significance of that time was the league went from 6 teams to 12 with pretty much the same talent pool. There were no Swedes or Russians .
No doubt Orr Howe Richard were dominant back then but the game is so much better today . I suggest go back and watch some vintage clips from games in the 60 s 70 s and 80 s . I bet most would think that hockey was unwatchable.
When I look back it gives me memories of my childhood but man the hockey sucked back then. |
